Path for Config file does not exist for me. I'm confused!

Hello. I had a GeForce 280 that ran the game great (except for texture popping that I got used to).... but the card overheated and crashed my system occasionally in Rage and many other recent games.

So today I replaced it with a Raedon HD 6950 2GB card and now the game is unplayably slow.

Ok, whatever. I've been looking on ways to fiddle with the Rage graphic settings... but every post indicated that I should make rageConfig.cfg and put it here:

Steam\steamapps\common\rage\base

But... that directory does not exist (as far as I can see) anywhere on my Windows 7 system.

The closest thing I have is:

c:\Users\\Saved Games\id Software\Rage\base

Why do I not have the directory structure that everyone else seems to have?

You could try searching for "Steam" on your PC. Or "Rage." That should give you a whole list of folders. I'm sure the lists will come up with the "Base" folder. (Or at least point you to where your Steam directory is located IF that is your problem.)

If you don't have the directory structure then your game is not installed correctly, here is the directory, I run win7 and as you can see here the directories are in my c:/ look: http://screensnapr.com/v/3bCOyT.png

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\rage\base
It should be in Program Files (x86) I'm on W7 64bit & that's where its located for me.

Mystery solved.

The first steam game I installed on my computer was Just Cause 2.

Somehow, the steam file path on my computer is inside JC2... so the path I was looking for is: c:\games\JC2\Steam\steamapps\common\rage\base

Now, the other annoying part is... searching for "rage" or "base" or "steam" or "steamapps" on my computer did not find the parts in the path above, and only reported results in my My Documents folder.

Actually I wish it gave a option where to install.
I have a 120gb SSD hard drive as my C: drive.
I don't want to fill it up, so it would be nice if I had the option to pick where to install.
I have a second hard drive 500gb that I'd rather all these stream games be on.
