PCPS3 RELEASE DATE SAGA PART 8

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 9:35 am

Forum actually locked PART 7 as I was typing this so I get to start Part 8 - COOL! THANKS!

If you are like me, a 100% PC playing, 100% console hating hard core gamer, then take the advice of the late Douglas Adams: DON'T PANIC!

Since they forced us to use STEAM to play Skyrim, use it to your advantage. Steam just had a huge summer sale; I picked up all the games that I would never ever EVER buy for $49.99, ($59.99??? REALLY - WHO IS THAT DUMB?) (really enjoying Witcher 2, got Saints Row 3 and the STALKER series waiting in queue, and much more), got most of them for under $26 each with all DLC and expansions, and all released more than long enough to be thouroughly patched, enhanced, and fairly bug free, and more than enough to keep me playing and entertained until Dawnguard is also a bug free fixed dowload on sale on Steam for $3.99...

I even picked up a fresh copy of Morrowind, though I have all the disks + expansions plus tons of user mods stashed somewhere(Puma Man's GIANTS mod Oh Yeah!); I'll probably put a few hours into it building my ninth or tenth character and recreating my old Telvanni stronghold with 1000 lamps and candles. Frankly, in terms of actual fun Morrowind is still the Elder Scrolls king IMHO, as it had the best alchemy/enchanting/spell system of all the ES games (the ability to create uber spells and potions with some leveling, practice, and experimentation was actually really fun, and not the game breaker many might suspect). And I still love the sound of the rain on the water in Morrowind, while casually farming pearls simply for the relaxation...

OR ya'all can sit here and whine about how Bethesda has royally screwed over their original and most loyal fan base (PC gamers) in pursuit of lining their pockets with Microsoft Gold while Microsoft strives to try and keep their aging and IMLTHO useless XBOX alive and generating revenue for another few years. It was inevitable that Bethesda would begin to emulate EA Games and Activision, as inevitable as the fall of the Roman Empire...

Morrowind has got some serous mods, a heavily modded Morrowind is pretty epic if you haven't already tried it.

Yea I got Borderlands %75 off although it is actually %75 off right now too with some free weekend thing going on. They are pushing it for Borderlands 2 pre orders. Anyway Borderlands is a really cool game I would not have bought unless it was literatly at least %75 off. It is really good.

But on topic, I want to play Dawnguard...

I'm not trying to anger anyone here but didn't Leydenne just close the last thread on this? It's big no-no reopening or recreating previously closed threads. Just sayin...

If it means anything to you guys I too am still waiting to get my Dawnguard on PC. Fortunately though I found some great mods that've been keeping me busy.

Honestly, I don't do Steam buying. I'm the type of person who wants physical copies of what I buy.

You are allowed to chat withing the forum rules. The forums here and everywhere have rules, if you dont follow the rules you will get banned. The forum has been spammed in the last few hours with multiple threads on the same thing when we already have an open thread for discussion of the subject, which is against the rules hence why they were locked. Many of those doing the spamming are also commenting in the locked thread so the mod stated to stop it so they got the message.

You think companies didn't pay attention and learn from what happened with Mass Effect 3 and Occupy Mass Effect?

what is steam?

Steam is a digital way to buy things like DLC for the PC. It's basically the equivalent of the marketplace for Xbox.

Edited for a typo

It really did look like someone was about to try and start an Occupy Bethesda movement lol. But, I honestly don't really care for Dawnguard. I'm waiting for the USKP more so than Dawnguard. There's talk that the dialogue bug has been fixed.

I wish PC and PS3 players would stop buying Bethesda's DLC altogether until they stop with the timed exclusive nonsense. Personally, I'm done giving them money. But my wallet alone isn't gonna change anything.
The problem with that strategy is, that it will only prove them right that the xbox is the most profitable platform for them. All they will think is "See? We sell much less on PC and PS3 anyway, we should concentrate on our main platform".
On the other hand, when PC and PS3 players buy Dawnguard like crazy, they will feel justified in their actions, because they get the impression that they didn't alienate a lot of PC and PS3 gamers, and they can get away with these exclusivity deals easily.

This is a no-win scenario for us. We can't vote with our wallet. Beth has already been bought by Microsoft.

My only hope is TESO now, which will carry the Elder Scrolls torch for PC gamers. It's developed by another company (although same publisher) with enthusiastic people who won't have to pander to consoles, and because it's an MMO, it will have better community relations by default. For me, BGS sank their flagship with Skyrim, which from the get-go was aimed for the xbox, in terms of game design, technology, controls, marketing, etc etc. Heck, in several interviews, they even said themselves that BGS makes console games. I'm clearly not their target audience anymore, so I guess it's time to move on.

To PS3 players ... I'm sorry you have become a cashualty (sic!) in this war. :(

Gaming companies will be using the mass effect 3 issue as a case study since it was that bad.

ontopic:I personally hope dawnguard comes out next week or early august if it takes longer than that I will be using my money on other game releases.

Dialogue bug?
It was a bug introduced by the 1.6 patch. It screwed with mods that tried to alter any vanilla dialogue in the game. It basically gutted the USKP of maybe around half of its fixes.

Mass effect 3 had crap endings, thats about it. Some disgruntled gamers think they made a big corporation change its tune by staging a protest. When in fact it was the bad reviews and press of the bad endings that got BioWare to change it to an enhanced version. People dont realise that companies like EA tie bonuses and earnings in to metacritic scores, and they need to get above a set score to get paid. So BioWare made a "better" set of endings and got better reviews.

Also could you please stop using so many fullstops. A sentence ends with only one. Thanks.

You.....you realize that most, if not almost all reviewers gave the game a near perfect score, right? Most didn't even mention the ending.

It was basically the fans that got Biowares's attention. It was a HUGE backlash.
