''Penalty'' for dying ?

Post » Fri Jan 25, 2013 9:11 am

...I've been searching for this info unsuccessfully...

Does anyone know, WILL THERE BE A ''PENALTY'' FOR DYING in TESO...? (money loss, limited abilities for some time,...)
...and if so, what will it be...?
...and, WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE IT TO BE...?

...Maybe... when you kill your opponent in PvP, you get the money he lost because dying...

For me, BOTH together mentioned above sound ok.

other ideas?

They haven't gone into any details about the death system yet.
Anyway, I wouldn't mind taking say 35-50% of someones money in PvP.

I can't see any harsh penalties for death, they are dying out because the MMO crowd is attracting new people with new ideas.

Commander Fensom: 35-50% of someones money will be HUGE when the game has been around for a while, that will massively discourage anyone from PvPing if they have money.

I would like to see a minimal penalty, perhaps none at all in terms of stats or xp (Because essentially that just boils down to having to wait around for a while, and that is not fun). But I would like to drop a bag, which would contain a single item. This bag would be locked, requiring something (Maybe a lockpicking skill) to open it. This would give you a reason to go back, and would give a bit of motivation to attack someone. It would also give PvPers a motivation to pick up a crafting skill.

This item would be something random from the inventory, but not an equipped item and not a unique quest reward either, so that people wouldn't get too upset, and also if you were in PvP and lost your sword you wouldn't be able to fight back!

A good addition could be that if someone gets your stuff after killing you they are tracked on your map so you can try and reclaim it!

They talk about that in the podcast.

If I'm not totally mistaken, there is no penality if you chose to be resurrected at some kind of nearest wayshrine and a penality if you want to just stand up and resume. You don't lose your items, however.

I think any items that are not Armor or Cosmetics, nor weapons. (Gems, Rubies other items of value that can be sold) Would be dropped, these can be sold etc - however as stardark mentioned you either have to - Have a certain key which can be purchased or have a certain skill to be able to loot these and sell for a nice price.
