People are taking the dragons too seriously...

Post » Tue Nov 06, 2012 7:55 pm

Everyone on the forums is all like "NOOOOO Dragons are rare and ferocious creatures!!!!! Dragon Riding is lame and stupid! Dragon riding is against the lore!!! It will ruin my view on dragons!"

I don't understand how people can still take the dragons seriously.... They spawn almost ever time you fast travel and go to dawnstar, which ruins their rareness and makes it repetitive, taking away a lot of how ferocious they are. After that amount of dragon appearances, people just spam attack the dragons as they can be pretty easy kills. When I see a dragon it's no longer "Crap Crap Crap, I need to hide and get out a good weapon!" it's now "Darn, another dragon; Oh well, easy soul"

Dragon riding will not cheapen the already cheap experience, if anything it can provide a new way to face the dragons (Aerial Combat). It's also actually in the lore as well. I can totally see where your coming from if you think the map may be a little small for dragons, but imagine if the dragons were at a pretty decent slow speed. I can trust Bethesda that if it's implemented that it will work pretty well. I personally would love to get a contract from someone saying "You really don't look like you can handle the job but if you can, there is a bandit camp north of markarth.." than just ride the dragon and bring flame to the dames or get revenge on that guy that says we don't go to the cloud district very often. If implemented right, it could work... and be extremely fun...

It's also very likely that like with the dawnguard DLC (The trailer said we could end the sun for good, and in reality we got a bow that shot arrows which would make the sky turn red for like a minute; kind ruined the roleplaying possibilities that could come out of a sun gone forever) , we will end up getting it as a fast travel option or something like that...

It does? It only did it for one in-game hour for me.....

Maybe I am taking too seriously.

But I still think its weird for Dragon mounts to be a thing. Its like going out, and asking a random stranger if they'd like to give you a piggy back ride somewhere.

People take all sorts of aspects of "The Elder Scrolls" waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too seriously but that's only because they love it so much.

Some people raged to find bandits in Glass and Daedric armour in "Oblivion".

Others cursed and sputtered when they realised nipbles had been removed from the character meshes.

Because people's tastes are so wide and varied there will always be people who are not happy with certain changes that are made.

When this happens you have a choice.

You can freak out about it or try and enjoy it.

If we all loved the same stuff the world would be a dull place.

I'll have to see what the finished product is like.

It might not be exactly the way "i" would have done it but I'll probably be able to enjoy it.

Like one poster said.... You are a dragon mentally just not physically so it's more like 'Hey bro, I need a ride'. They will probably have you take over a dragons soul or something for you to ride it.

I don't mind dragon riding being a thing. If I don't like it I won't do it.

Here is my complaint. If I can 'fly' on a dragon why can't I have levitate back? The whole argument was that would open areas we shouldn't be able to and allow us to fly over the walls of cities which are suppose to only be entered via the gate. How does a dragon not cause this problem? Is it just going to seize anytime I fly over a city?

Yeah but i think even the fellow who wrote that thing forgot about it

Or died the next day.

Edit: I now suppose you mean the writer who wrote it for the game, not the battlemage.

Spoiler alert!
Spoiler
There is a part of the vanilla game's MQ where you ride a dragon.
So if they let you do it once, they can let you do it to your heart's content when you get more powerful as a result of the new DLC's quest.

If it's done in a stylish and tasteful manner, then yes no problem with that. I'm just hoping they won't degrade Dragons into some flying carpets, that's all.

If the dragons are "degraded" or not, depends of the way you play the game. I cant belive such a trival thing, that the DRAGONBORN can mount the dragons he must dominate (ehem) is so trouble-matic.
If you dont like to ride a dragon... dont ride it!! Its sooo simple. I give a radical example... if you are lv 60 I assure you can wipe out an entire village. And you do it? No! You can but you dont do it, unless you WANT TO . The same goes for ANY ASPECT OF THE GAME.
Besides, its in the lore!!!!!
So, people cry when they add stuff out of lore, people cry when they add stuff FROM the lore. Sometimes I cant understand people.
For me, the most features, the most choices you have, the mos varied things you can do, more freedom, more possibilities, that IS the best thing to an Elder Scrolls game.
