So people with the guides, who all can we marry?

Post » Fri May 18, 2012 12:09 am

I've been googling for a while now and can't find this info anywhere online, and I know the guide lists all the available options so could you do us a favor and list them maybe? Thanks.

if no one is willing to be helpful perhaps we should start making our own list?

It's not that people aren't willing to help but the list is fairly huge. Nearly two pages of the guide. And people are too busy actually playing the game ;)

According to the people who've read it there are no Khajiit or Bosmer available, which is a bit of a bummer. The guide's almost certainly right, but I'll still attempt speaking to them anyway, just in case.

Other than that, I don't know very much at all. I'll try to post here if I find anything (or anyone) interesting though.

aha! I did a bit of looking around and found a list on Game FAQ's forums:

Hope that helps!

This.

The list is huge, way too big to spend time writing out. It's like two pages long. Try asking about certain ones maybe, it is easier to look up just one or two names than try to write them all out.

You have to actually wear the amulet while doing all of the following:

1. You go out and meet people and do favors for the ones you like and hope may be a spouse (make sure they have a good job and home or whatever). After you have done whatever favor for them, they will say something like "I noticed the amulet, how is it you aren't married?" So then you can ignore that and he/she goes away - or you can say something like "You look mighty fine to me..."

2. They will ask you then if you want to be married. You can say yes or "H... no! There's gotta be someone better out there than the likes of you" type thing.

3. If you say yes, you better get your butt back to the priest quick and arrange (and pay for) the wedding. Don't worry, the guy/girl WILL show up because anything is better than a Drough or whatever reason - they are pretty desperate - something. So just be at your wedding on time.

4. If you fail to show, disrupt the ceremony, etc. all of Rift will decide they don't like you much.

5. Then you just go home and he/she will be there. They have to cook for you once a day, if you sleep in the same bed with them you get a bonus skill boost for 8 hours. If they move into your house, they bring all their business there - like merchants will start selling out of your house, etc.

Some of the companions and followers are spouse material, and they not only live with you and sleep with you - but go with you and fight alongside you. I will list those if you want:

Aela the Huntress
Argis the Bulwark
Athis
Calder
Farkas
Iona
Jordis the Sword-Maiden
Lydia
Njada Stonearm
Rio
Tarvar
Vilkas

** by the way, you can also choose to live in their residence, tell them that and after the wedding make sure you go to their house. I would make sure where they live first, it may just be a tent in the woods, (so if you don't know what their house is, say yours or find out first).

Ha so Lydia is marriable (lol new word)

On the wiki ti says she wasn't. I'm assuming you have to do some sort of companion quest for her first. Does the guide have any info on that? Huge help though regardless, thanks.

Become the Thane of Whiterun to marry her. (do the quest for the Jarl of Whiterun to become the Thane)

I've done that, that's how you get her in the first place. No option to marry her though.

That is odd, she is listed in both the strategy guide and the WIKI :

Could be glitched, or as I read on another forum she has a companion quest later on down the road that you need to do for her before you can marry her.

I think almost anyone can marry you, truly. The random ladies from the Dibella temple even proposed me.

How do spouses work with bodyguards? I know we can only have 1 follower but my bodyguard Lydia uses my house as a base, whenever we part ways thats where I pick her up again. If I married a different npc but chose that house to live in, would my bodyguard still live there too or would she go back to the jarls place?

Pretty sure by their responses that the Blacksmiths daughter in Whiterun, the chick who let you stay at her house after escaping the execution, and the girl who told you to get the bard to leave her alone in Whiterun can be married. Just speculation, but judging by the responses, I'm pretty sure.

I was wondering that too, in case your spouse has an...accident in the night or something.

I was going to try to find one of the companion ones that complemented my combat style - like if I am melee they would be ranged, etc. (mostly so I don't hit them in combat, I guess - but it could work better that way if you're going to be a team).
