Perks every two levels still in?

Post » Thu Feb 03, 2011 12:15 am

Well the Skilled perk would be nice, you'd get extra skill points but you have to wait one level more to get a perk. So if the default is a perk every two levels you'd get one every three levels.

2 levels each sounds good, 3 sounds to much.

Unless they give a clear and good reason for the number 3 like so....

Its Always been three (sometimes four!)

Why even call it a "perk" if its routine?... It was a bonus that popped up occasionally.

That's great news, as for myself it means that they'll begin to feel like perks again instead of the way they felt like they were given too freely in Fallout 3.

Man, you guys are insanely hardcoe. i like the idea of being able to pick a new perk every level. the thought of every second level kind of bugs me for some reason. i read on the wiki page that there is a good chance you will get to choose a new perk every level. here's hoping. :fallout:

It's just been confirmed on this very page that it's every two levels. And if you think that's hardcoe, in the original FO1&2 it was every three (or even every four) levels.

Thank goodness Obsidian made the right decision with this one and not have it every level, that was so lame in FO3.

Well, better perks less often is pretty much the same overall benefit as worse perks more often. Only difference is that it makes perks seem a bit more SPECIAL.

I don't find one every two levels all that hardcoe, just balanced a lot better. Depending on your trait you could play Fallout 1 and 2 getting one every 4 levels.

Sounds good I think it'll make me appreciate my perks a lot more an pick ones that will genuinely benefit my character as a whole not just random perks I take just to fill up space the extra space thats left when I lvled all the way up to 30.

2 levels would be good, 1 is too often, 3 levels is too stingy.

I have not seen a definitive answer other than what they set for the final development phase, which is two. This could change with release.

were did yah hear this? last time i saw them mention it in an interview they said it was 3 but were going to listen to fan feedback before they decide for sure.

in truth i like every level this allowed me to get most of the "good perks for a character"

I say this because you really couldn't do a no combat character and nearly all the noncombat perks were useless except for opening up one or 2 speech options with characters, who you may not even be able to select them with by the time you obtain the perk. aka gun nut added a speech option with the weapon shop guys in rivet city.

Hey, as long as my hardcoe mode character can Cannibalise raiders to satisfy his hunger, they can just give us one perk, ever, for all I care. :P

I took that perk on my evil guy....it was rubbish eating a corpse...a WHOLE corpse healed about 1-2 notches of my health....complete trash.

Which is the sort of thing that happens when you're handing out perks like candy- you run out of decent ideas, go to the mediocre ones, and still need more perks. So, scraping the bottom of the barrel, you come up with a few more lame "filler" perks.

Which is why it'd make more sense in New Vegas, restoring hunger rather than health. ;)

Two levels sounds great. I didn't mind the perk each level for the normal game, as getting 20 perks seemed about the right amount to me, if not a little too much. But when Broken Steel came out, it got messy (for lack of a better word). I found that for 6 or 7 of those levels I was just slapping on whatever perk without too much thought, as they'd offered way too many.
15 perks does sound fantastic.
