Is 49 Perks the Maximum?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 9:56 am

Taking level 50 as the maximum level (even though it's not really the maximum), is 49 Perks really the maximum number of perks we will be able to choose? Or will we be able to somehow obtain perk "points" as rewards for quests, or other kinds of stuff?

Right now 49 perks seem to be constraining my character quite a bit. I might end up having to forgo the Enchanting perks.

You can still get perks after level 50 just very slowly as leveling up gets slowed down after that point, level 70 has been said to be max level so 69 perks. still out over over 200 available perks 69 is still a small number

Yes, but I wanted to take level 50 as the maximum level because I'm not sure just how slowly leveling after that becomes. It might become too slow to make a 69 perk build very viable.

I very much doubt we'll be able to get extra perk points through quests as a general rule.

The one exception I can think of is the Oghma Infinium, an artifact sometimes granted to mortals as a reward for service to Hermaeus Mora. A free perk point to spend would be a suitable effect of reading it, actually.

I've heard that the Oghma Infinium grants five bonus perks but have no idea of how true that is (I'm skeptical to be honest).

EDIT: Gregs idea of it granting one bonus perk seems much more likely.

Personally, I made a 69 point build but had the last 20 seperately, kind of a 'filling in the cracks' sort of thing. I've not heard of any quests granting bonus perks, but I also wouldn't put it past bethesda to have 'quest reward perks' that are unique in and of themselves.

If people who have watched streams are claiming it's five then it's probably five. It is supposed to be an ancient and powerful Daedric artifact, after all, with ties to multiple divine beings. Personally I think five's a bit much (three would be better IMO) but the more the merrier I suppose.

^ That is very awesome!

I have to remember to do that quest then because +5 extra perk points is a massive reward!

Five could work, if it's the only source of additional perks in the game. It would enough to round out/fill in the cracks of most builds without giving the player the opportunity to specialise in an additional skill alongside their core set.

So 49 + 5 in total ? I'm willing to bet there will be a few more associated with quests

Great, then I'll be able to at least make my build a bit more complete.

If there is an item that grants 5 I wonder if that article that said something like 70 levels 98 perks to choose was correct. Everyone said it was wrong, but if there are bonus perks here and there 5 from the artifact 1 from this quest, 1 from that dungeon getting 25ish perks from 150+ dungeons and god knows how many quests does not seem that impossible.

In a loading screen i saw , it said going to jail reduces skills. Im assuming they are going back on what they said about the jail penalty, thus, no max level.

But we don't know if quests give us perks, do we? Even if they do, I suspect they would be quest-related perks, and not perk points for us to choose our own perks.

Fix'd.

What's the basis for the seventy-something perks?

Max level (all skills at 100) is said to be something between 70-75.
