Perma Stealth?

Post » Fri Aug 23, 2013 6:45 pm

Has any info been released yet on whether or not Nightblades will be getting perma-stealth like WoW and SWTOR, or just temporary stealth like GW2? I loved sneaking around in SWTOR, and spying/ganking was very satisfying, but I found the temporary stealth of GW2 much more balanced.

Any info?

EDIT: When I say stealth I'm talking about actual cloaking stealth (like WoW or SWTOR) and not just sneaking (where you crouch down like in TES).

As far as I know (Not entirely sure, if that's true, though), sneaking drains your stamina bar. So you'll not be able to be invisible forever, but longer depending on how much you specced/geared into stamina.

To the best of our knowledge, you'll be able to go invisible for varying amounts of time, and should be able to be a pansy and gank another player. I don't know why people think that's fun, but they do.

Yes, sneaking drains stamina all the time. And only Nightblade gets the ability to restealth in combat.

Everyone has perma-stealth. Nightblade will get some things like potentially harder to detect stealth and probably some sort of Vanish-type move, and who knows what else.

But everyone can stealth, and stealth as much as they want. Your stamina degrades as you MOVE while sneaking, but regens as you are motionless even while still in stealth.

Pretty sure anyone can restealth in combat as long as they break LOS for a certain amount of time, but Nightblade can just "poof" if they want.

You keep calling gankers pansies in a couple threads now. It's a legitimate (and very fun) combat strategy. I'll see you in game friend! (but you won't see me)

Have a link? Just wanting to know if this is confirmed yet. I'm finding a lot of stuff on sneaking, but nothing on actual stealth.

I'm not very good at keeping track of the interviews and stuff, I'm sure someone will pop in here later that might have it catalogued and indexed in a text file, lol.

I have my reasons for saying it, the better of which is to point towards the recent demo at Quakecon where Nick Konkle is sneaking around in the dungeon. You can see it right there if you pay attention close enough to his stamina bar and movement.

You hear anything about stealth in PvP? Like crouching hides you from NPCs of course, but will it hide you from other players?

Yes, you will be invisible until spotted.

If enemy player is looking your way you can be spotted. Just like in other Elder Scrolls games the light and sneaking skill determines how early you will be spotted.

Also when you're invisible, your shadow is still visible on the ground.

Pretty much what Tap said. You're invisible if you manage to stealth when nobody is looking your way. LOS plays a big role in the average stealthing. Then you can spot a shadowy blob of sorts when you "passively spot" them when close by. There will be skills to help break/detect stealth, such as Magelight, and I assume AOEs could pop it.

Sounds pretty solid to me. I was worried that you could only be invisible when you used "vanish" type skills that nightblades have.
