Personal thanks to Mark Lampert

In all the problems Skyrim is having I'm very pleased of the hard work of audio director and sound designer Mark Lampert. The sound effects for the most part in Skyrim are miles better than in Oblivion. In the making of Skyrim videos he looks like he's really into his work and it shows. Thanks again.

I saw your post mentioning this thread in another thread and I figured I'd have to reply here, because I completely agree with you. The sound design in the game is extraordinary. The entire final section of the MQ was one of the most well-constructed things I've seen in a videogame, with everything from graphics to sound design to music to aesthetics just working in perfect harmony.

Mark is one of the best in the business. He is one of the few at Beth that I never complain about. Lol.

The sounds are great, but unfortunately there are technical issues that does it so a lot of people can't hear the otherwise great sounds very well.

For instance, A LOT of PC users have low sound problems in Skyrim. And I hear the sound quality on consoles is pretty bad as well.

It's too bad that such things have to destroy the otherwise great sounds.

I love the wind sounds especially much :)

The sound in this game is amazing.

There are a few things I'd like to see changed, like some of the repetitive comments made by vendors (different VA, same comment) and maybe some of the inventory sounds--but overall I am TOTALLY IMMERSED when I'm walking around Skyrim and I can't ask for anything more than that.

Mark (and team?) - You have my heartfelt thanks.

I have to voice my agreement on this one. One of the things that has nothing to be complained about in the game is the audio section, both BGM and sound effects. One of the most important things in this specific title that makes it fairly immersive and epic.

The sound and music are amazing. Sometimes I just freeze for a moment to listen when some ambient track kicks in, like grasshoppers/cicada at night.
I occasionally stop to look out over a vista (especially now that I've tweaked the ini, added fxaa injector, and hi-res textures). That by itself is a huge pleasure in any game. But skyrim is the only game in memory that I've stopped for listening.
The only nitpick I have, and it's trivial, is that the operatic chorus kicks in a little too far from a wall with a word of power. Sometimes it almost makes me laugh reminding me of a monty python skit, as the chorus fades in and out.
Anyway, yeah, the sound in the game is amazing.
