im having some trouble with this, i have an intelligance of 6 so i should be able to do it but when i go to use the cooker it dosent do anything, and i have no way of knowing the ingrediants. any ideas???

He probably means the ones you get from him through conversation needed for the quest.

You get it by passing a barter check with him where you lie telling him you're going to publish it. If you've passed the speech check required to get him into the pantry, you can now cook on the stove and call the head waiter.

Did you discuss using a substitute with Chauncey when you met him in the bathhouse?
