I understand that both Harvey and Arkane believe in environment navigation, manipulation and utilisation as the core component in creating immersive and rewarding gameplay.
Although physics was not represented in Deus Ex due to the tech at the time, it was so perfectly done in Dark Messiah, from a design standpoint i hope this will be replicated in Dishonored.
The environment and combat system within Dark Messiah is second to non, including Mount & Blade/ HL2 respectively. The physics based design which created environment tactical opportunities, and the influence it had on the combat scenarios within Dark Messiah I feel is the only true advancement in FPS games of recent years.
In addition to this, and somewhat more so are the elements which i feel contributed to making Dark Messiah the master piece it is, is the subtleties of the core combat system, such as; directional melee swings and resultant enemies being pushed into that direction, the posture / combat state variable response of enemies to "kick", electricity water mechanic, ballistics / variable trajectory of objects, jumping on enemies from varying heights delivered variable damage and general telekinesis craziness. But also non physics based mechanics and systems such as; fire/burning, adrenaline to balance out numbered scenarios. I guess I should stop harping on about a previous game because I am looking forward to playing Dishonored now, so essentially my question is;
Is the new game engine capable and has Harvey as co-creative adopted physics (to the extent of Dark Messiah's utilisation) as part of a core game design ethos, to give environmental physics based choices as well as physics based combat mechanics that directly effect your characters interaction with enemies?
Additional yes/no questions;
Is rope bow / wood like material placement in?
Breakable cables / ropes?
Working machinery?
Liberal use of narrow paths around high cliffs /sky scraqers?
Extended "arrrrrgrgggghhhhhhhhhh" sounds as enemies fall?
Frictionless floors (ice)?
Liberal use of uniquely accessed and obscure hidden areas?
hardcoe difficulty setting?

I look forward to Dishonored
