Force goes through why ZeniMax confirmed "No Pick Pocketing".

Kind of let down by this, while i would be annoyed that someone took all my stuff, its still a vital part of the TES series, and I think a lot of people wont like this.

Thoughts?

Me? I dont like it, and i think it needs to be in TES-O, whether they like it or not.

Doesnt surprise me in the slightest. Would've perhaps been nice to have it as an option for NPCs, but there's no way it would've worked properly with other player characters.

There was a heated debate on this last week.
Personally I don't mind though. I never did much pickpocketing unless I was slipping poison for a stealth kill. :P

I think this is a Vital part of TES series, at least put it in for NPC's?

I think its lazy to not put it in.

Yes, building this game for five years from the ground up for an ungrateful community is quite lazy, I agree. :touched:

I haven't read a constructive reason on why it shouldn't be in the game. Its part of the TES backround, and by not sticking to it, yes, it is lazy, and yes , i am very ungrateful for their laziness [:

Regardless, if you can provide a reason that it shouldnt be in the game, i'm going to assume that they will re-think this decision.

I don't mind either way. I was just commenting on the irony of spending thousands of hours coding and sculpting characters and landscape, then getting called lazy by a forum goer for not having a minor skill he wants because you had to make tough choices of balance.

I'm not arguing with your opinion, but I will say it's silly to call them "lazy." If anything maybe you should say "judgment poor."
They could actually be lazy and pull a SWTOR, hyping you up with false information for box sales and then lying through their teeth about what they have because they don't really have anything, but I wouldn't know anything about that. :D

They can spend thousands of hours on this game, yet they can't put something that is vital to TES, in the game, yeah, its kind of lazy. I'm not saying they are lazy in general, i'm saying that not putting this in, is an act of laziness. Idk if that makes sense? Blah.

But yeah, i know where your coming from.

Okay let's get real here, calling pickpocketing "vital to TES" is a bit far and that's putting it lightly. Pickpocketing has always been (and become more so with every SP TES game) right up there with for instance Illusion, it's a skill that has a base usefulness and is used by some, but for most players (myself included) it really wouldn't be all that noticeable if it was removed as it really isn't needed for ANYTHING in the games, especially in Skyrim. Sure Pickpocketing is fun and great for RP purposes, but it's not "vital" whatsoever and calling it that is really quite silly.

Also it's not at all lazy to not put something in a game for balancing purposes. I'd much rather they spend hours and hours working upon major game content or even things like player housing rather than trying to find a perfect balance for a single skill that's really low on the TES skill food chain.

It's fine if you want to say, as BlueSnacks said that them not putting it in was an act of poor judgement or say an oversight, but saying that it's quite simply lazy to not have included it is really quite foolish because that's clearly not the reason whatsoever why it was not included.

It's perfectly understandable if you're one of those who pickpocketing meant the world to in the SP games and so you're upset with them not including it, but at least have the grace to choose your words a bit better when you voice those feelings.

Im gonna have to agree with snacks on this one :/ I don't think its physically possible for someone to watch the interviews that have been shown and not think the Devs have the utmost respect for TESO IP and are trying their best to make this a great game. Both MMO and a part of TESO. Its just naive to think that a company taking the lore and mechanics of TESO so seriously would just skim over something like pickpocketing and go "Meh... too much of a hassle to work out". They've explained themselves a little and if you sat down and looked at the system from all sides, it makes sense. At least to some degree. Taking money/items from real players? Not in an MMO. It'd be mayhem. Maybe create extra gold out of thin air for the thief? Just kind of lame IMO. Now pocketing NPCs is what we're used to, but then they'd have to create a jail system and have guards attack you mid-city and what not. Of course thats fine for single player, but that would just ruin so many other players' game. Fights all over the place in main cities? Haha. Not what an MMO is about. Well really not what Zenimax is about. I really don;t think they want that kind of activity. This is TESO, yes. But theres some aspects of the single player games that would cause to many issues to be in an MMO setting. From what I've heard from the Devs, they take TESO IP very seriously. Its astonishing there are still people out there who can call them "lazy" in regards to making sure this game feels and plays like an ES game. I agree with their choice for the overall fun of the game :/ Even though I love being a little thief myself.
