Pictures of Fallout 3 Characters #11

Post » Wed Sep 02, 2009 5:42 pm

THIS IS FOR POSTING PICTURES THAT INVOLVE MODS. Normal pictures go in General.
http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=983346
http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=954263

Thanks to Rohugh for the guidlines and the other people who worked on that thread for the idea.

Why this is here:
Pictures of Fallout 3 characters is in "Fallout 3 Mods" not only because the screenshots posted involve mods, but to share and introduce mods to people new to Fallout 3, or are just looking for something new to add to their game.

Welcome to the Fallout Screenshot Thread

Some Specific Posting Guidelines with thanks to Bashur (in "addition" to all the ones TES Forums already require)

Welcome! This thread encourages people's feedback about whatever is posted here. However, any criticism of presented screenies, character ideas, stories, etc., should be very specific and constructive. This kind of criticism is a great way for us to learn and improve our skills.

However, due to some extreme and abusive criticism around the time of our 50th thread (which was thankfully cleared out by a moderator), it became necessary to post the following:

NO criticism should be directed at the PERSON - only at his or her WORK.
Also, whatever criticism is presented, it should NOT be negative in general terms - such as, "That screenie is really lame." This type of non-specific criticism only insults and does not provide any help whatsoever. Or even worse, this kind of criticism: "You are a silly man with a silly idea." If you really must say something negative to someone outside of this simple "code", keep it off this thread!

Another bottom line rule on this thread we have learned over time: If you find a post really offensive, REPORT IT AND IGNORE IT! The moderators know how to quickly deal with any such situation, and will remove any offensive posts, if they are actually offensive. Arguing or making demands regarding the post, invariably ends up worsening the situation, and can even result in all involved parties getting a warning.

Also, some posts can be too vague and subject to interpretation - so please word your posts very clearly to avoid any misunderstandings, especially if they are critical in nature.

Commenting on style of play in screenshots:
Due to a recent resurgence of abusive posts, any comments concerning the style of play a member employs should be constructive and friendly - and always aligned with the standards for commenting within this topic and on this Forum. Members have a wide variety of playing styles and of capturing screens - and no subjective (or moral, ethnic, political, religious, cultural, social, sixual, etc.) preferences should be dictated to others as right or wrong on this thread. All members are encouraged to post their screens regardless of their style of play - as long as they stay within the rules of this Forum and thread.

From one of our moderators, DreadLord7:
This is not the place to troll, flame, or spam others. You all are here to share ideas, converse, and have a good time. We don't want anyone to spoil the party, so if someone happens to come along with those intentions please use the report button and ignore that person's post (Do not reply to them or acknowledge them). We will then take the appropriate action to cull the situation and remove the problem.

Regarding receiving comments or not receiving comments to your post:
Comments are hit or miss on this very fast moving thread. This thread moves so FAST that it is hard for lots of us to comment on peeps' screenies. So many, if not most screenies may appear to go unnoticed, because no comments occur. I am sure many of us have worked hard on something, and it appears to just fly by the pages, because of this very popular thread. Many of us try to take time to comment because it is fun to give others feedback and generally seems appreciated. But often no one does. If you really feel like it always happens that your post is ignored, ask a question about it. Whenever you directly ask about something, it is almost always answered by someone. Or even repost it - and point something out about it that you like or want feedback on.

And the best way to get comments? Positively, constructively/specifically comment on others work too!

Alright! Glad that is out of the way. Have fun and thanks for your contribution to this thread!

(Written by various contributors to this thread. Please PM greatfool1 if you do not agree with any part(s) of this.)

P.S. Winner of the most frequently given tip to new screenshooters, and deserving to be mentioned in the op:
To get rid of the HUD (Menu), use the console command "~", then "TM" to Toggle Menu Off/On. :)
________________________________________________________________________________
___________________________________________

Console commands that appear to work:

tm - this will completely remove the HUD and menus and, well, anything GUI related.
tai - this will completely disable the AI of any creature/npc. And imo, is the preferred way to "freeze" any character for a screenshot. Enter tai again to resume (toggle) action.
tfc - to activate the flying camera (toggle flying camera; type tfc again to deactivate it.)
tcl - removes collision from your character enabling simulated flight or to reach places that were previously unreachable. (toggles collision; type tcl again to deactivate it.)

To see how to use TAI, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzBWPhQ-iGc video. I assume it works the same way. If it doesn't, this post will be edited to reflect that.

Help on how to do poses from http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showuser=140510

How to take screenshots:
1. Press the \"PrtScrn\" button. Should be above Insert or Home.
2. You SHOULD see \"Screenshot captured\" (you wont see this if you have \"tm\" on) If you don\'t, the picture was still saved to your clipboard and can be loaded and saved on a program like paint. (By pasting)
3. If you do see it, it should be in ON VISTA: C:\\Users\\Your Computer User Name\\Documents\\My Games\\Fallout3
ON XP: they should be stored in your Fallout install directory (/Bethesda Softworks/Fallout3).

I found a topic a while back from someone asking for a mod that would let you smoke, and someone posted two list of commands and how you can use them

Basically if you are on the PC (if not you're Out Of Luck) press ~ to open up the console. Then type "Player.PlayIdle" far as I know the commands are not case sensitive. Once you do that pick one command from these two lists

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b139/Spi...Animations1.jpg
&
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b139/Spi...Animations3.jpg

Note that not all of them work.

The command for smoking is

"player.playidle npcsmokingidle"

BE WARNED! Some of those idle commands, such as pushups will loop and you can not stop them. So save your game right before you try doing any of them or else you might find yourself doing an emote forever. I do not know what happens if you do one that loops infinitely and then save - exit - reload. I did not risk it, and you have been warned smile.gif

That's what I mean. No matter what I never get sky like that and I've tried all the sky/weather/atmosphere mods
I just use Clear Skies now to get rid of the smog and perhaps see a pastel blue sky now and then if I'm lucky.
Those who get rainbow colored skies like the image quoted, what settings do you play on? It has to be something to do with that as it's not anything else like mod combination otherwise I would have seen it by now, surely. I'm on Medium and set everything else through ATI Tray Tools (AA, AF and all that).

Anyway.

New girl. Thought I'd try playing a dumb blonde. I did have a certain ditzy look earlier but Hair Pack decided it didn't want to work when I switched races. So, she got a new face. Her three main skills are Barter (Shopping), Speech (Gossiping), and Melee.

At present she's deciding if she will need an escort to The Mall. With her Charisma at 8 there's actually no BoS guys downstairs who don't like her. Everyone's very friendly, although that may have more to do with the fact she made an idiot of herself when armed with the Fatman. First she crippled both her own arms then knocked out all the Lyon's Pride crowd but managed to take down the Behemoth all by herself

Cynna has pretty much been retired so I'll see how far I get with this klutz before I get bored :)

Fellout mod, HDR, Medium settings.

I get the same sky as River's End but you mostly only see it like that at sun down or sun up.

I use the same settings as TheOutlander, except I have 2X AA most the time and I also tweak my LOD through the launcher app a bit.
@TheOutlander: Great sunrise pic. :thumbsup:

OT: Btw, does anyone know how to bring up the F3 Options window WITHOUT loading F3Launcher.exe? I've got the launcher blocked so it doesn't install SecuROM. The only reason I keep the launcher is it is the only method I know to access/change F3 video settings.

Start the game with either use FOSE, or run the game from the exe directly. This way you don't need the disk in the drive also.

One repost

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj294/ohmygoblino/ScreenShot244.jpg

@ Mystyk Star- I can understand your frustration with a mod just up and not working. :( For what it's worth, I've determined that I enjoy the Fellout + GreenerWorld combo much more in other people's screenshots than as a play environment. Both are great mods, but I'm heading back to a murkier, more film-noir atmosphere for my game. I actually prefer the brooding murk.

Speaking of character changes, here are my current two, these are exiting the vault pics, so don't expect anything particularly revelatory.

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj294/ohmygoblino/Teddy.jpg, a mild mannered sniper, and my other character, the woman my husband calls http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj294/ohmygoblino/SnottyAnita.jpg. It suits her. :P

Mystyk, do you play without HDR? Looks like you might from the Candace picture. I get the same effect of the screenshot as well with only Fellout changing how the world looks and use HDR.

Which, for anyone that doesn't know, HDR makes such a vast difference it's staggering. Tried testing my current project without it, nearly went crazy from how suddenly dark one of the environments became.

I did the retexture in Nifscope and added her to Craterside Supply along with some idle markers, but switching every one of Moira's dialogue, not to mention quest variables from MoiraBrown to MoiraBrain is daunting and I don't know if I'm going to bother.

I love "Dusty Sky". The brooding, luminous days, and cauldron-black nights are exactly what I was looking for. Thank you, Yossarian 22. :twirl:

Fellout mod, HDR, Medium settings.

I get the same sky as River's End but you mostly only see it like that at sun down or sun up.

:nope: Not me. http://img133.imageshack.us/img133/1466/screenshot559.jpg. The type you normally see if there's a bushfire somewhere or when http://www.fallout3nexus.com/imageshare/images/160921-1239721264.jpg. It's nice and all but nothing like what others usually get.

I had it on Bloom for a while as I'm sick of the lights and Nuka Cola Quantum showing squares around them, but outdoors I seemed to crash more often and the lag was terrible so I switched back to HDR, although oddly my Quantum's don't brilliantly glow in the dark anymore which is good.
http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/4760/screenshot567.jpg.

I use the same settings as TheOutlander, except I have 2X AA most the time and I also tweak my LOD through the launcher app a bit.

I'm on Medium and through Tray Tools have 4x AA (Adaptive checked), 8x AF (High Quality checked), everything on quality mode as opposed to performance.
In game the sliders under Settings for fade are all at 3/4. Hmmm. My graphics card does not svck anymore - I upgraded for Oblivion and it's just fine for Fallout.

Oh well, I'll stick with my fiery sunsets and steal other people's rainbow ones for my desktop wallpaper ;)

Wow, that's bizarre. Turn off your AA and see if that resolves your light issue, it's a possibility your card can't handle HDR and AA at the same time. And to be perfectly honest, the AA in FO3 is almost unneccesary and dimishes the effect of numerous FX. Most notably light smoke/mist and water streams (the falling ones like in Oasis)

Other than that I'm out of ideas, can't gimp my settings to try and recreate the effect, my rig is Crysis @VHigh capable. <_<

I notice that, unlike in Oblivion, AA seems to have no effect at all. I'll try without AA, see what happens.

Thanks for trying to help :)

Thanks but that won't allow me to access the video settings, such as AA, LOD, Specular, etc.
So, I'm still wondering if there is a way to change them through some front end instead of doing it manually via the .ini files or launcher.exe.

And to be perfectly honest, the AA in FO3 is almost unneccesary and dimishes the effect of numerous FX. Most notably light smoke/mist and water streams (the falling ones like in Oasis)

I had no idea this was the case. I'll turn mine off too and see if things are better. Thanks.
