Place an open book in the world.

Does anyone know how to place an open book in the world? If you pick them up (havok pick) in game they will open up. There seems to be no way to place them already open short of doing a havok drop and hoping for the best.

I'm sure I've seen open books somewhere...find the cell one of those is in, make a copy, and examine the book and see what's different about it from the rest.

This is tricky to do, as the books don't typically open wide enough to be laid down completely flat. However, enable havok sim (the little bouncing-ball/HK icon in the main toolbar) and hold down alt+ctrl while viewing the book you want to modify. WIth those held, you can click and drag to "grab" part of the book and manipulate it.

Very very tricky to do - but possible!

and hold down alt+ctrl
I thought only holding down alt was enough? That's what the wiki says, and it seems to work. does alt+ctrl do something alt alone doesn't?

Old habits die hard - sorry. I guess it used to be a two-key shortcut - if alt works, it works!

"Tricky" is an understatement. I can (with a LOT of work), get a book open at a 45 degree angle, but getting one completely open? I think it'll end up driving me insane to keep trying.

I don't think it's actually possible.

I think it's only allowed to open so far.

Hey all,

This thread caught my attention and I have done a little looking around.

The only fully open book I can find is the business ledger; Object Window> *All> Filter> 'TGRFOBusinessLedger'.

I have done some playing about with the ledger but only had a short time to do so - not able to do much but place the ledger.

It seems the ledger object is a fully open book and we cannot 'map' another book model to the ledger. :(

Maybe one of you has time to check out 'TGRFOBusinessLedger' and see if it can be used to solve the open book issue.

I have to go out now - so it could be a while before I can do any further checking.
