Player Pickpocketing

Post » Mon Jul 30, 2012 8:00 am

Well we all know pickpocketing is a big part of the Elder Scrolls. The idea of implementing it may difficult, yet I don't know, hence I am not a MMO developer, but I was thinking for some of the more hardcoe players that want to be able to kill and pickpocket all your gear, and the other players that aren't fans of this implemention. I thought of an idea that could blend both. This is just something I thought up and is not something I say needs to be implemented.

So here it is, you can pickpocket players, and when you enter their inventory you get random generated loot to take from which has varying percentages of being caught. Yet, if you steal something it doesn't affect the player because it isn't their gear and what not, Depending on the players level it can be harder or easier to steal from. Maybe if you were caught be other NPC's they could yell out that there is a theif and maybe the player being robbed could confront the other player in a dialogue which could add more of a RP feel to it,

Feel free to add sugestions or bash the idea. :D

Meh, I dont know about players pick pocketing each other, perhaps npcs would work, If I read what you typed correctly? lol I was assuming you ment players could pick pocket each other, that seems silly to me, maybe loot there corpse if you kill them or something? But yeah pickpocketing npcs would be cool.

well what i meant was instead of stealing from the player's loot the game could generate loot depending on their level and you could steal this loot so the player wouldn't rage if their gear was stolen.

I dont really see that happening, first and for most, its extra coding that has to be implemented. I mean NPC's on one hand yes, perhaps but other players idk it would have to randomly create a new protocol for every person logging in and out every time, and create these items and then people would have to walk around and others would pickpocket them and it would seem like a in game money scheme to me.

Pickpocketing is an idea sure, but the way you describe it opens up for massive exploitation, just pickpocket your friend and endless free loot will appear.

Lol. thats funny, perhaps if they brought in pickpocketing make it towards quests or something, instead of needing to kill someone to get the item, you can pick it from them and tada the quest is done :D, of course killing is always fun, just if you need something done in a hurry and have the ability to do so.

true I am thinking you could obvious put some restrections in to make it so that pickpocketing can't be an explotation.
