Player respawn after death?

I was wondering if there were any mods, WIP or anything of the sort like this. I would love to see a mod that say, when you reached 0 health, instead of triggering the death cam and asking to load, teleported to a nearby town or a some other set location. I just really hate getting caught up in exploring, especially with all of the great random encounter mods available now, only to run into an accidental death (running off of what didn't look like a cliff from a few feet back, for instance) and realizing that the last time I saved was an 30-40 minutes ago.

I'm sure you could make death have some kind of consequence to deal with the complaints that would surely come about game balance. Seeing as it would have the same type of teleporting affect as going to jail, it could have a similar drawbacks to that, i.e. lowering skill experience progress or loss of gold. Whatever. But the big thing is that it'd be a nice feature to save people from a lot of frustration, IMO.

So. If anyone knows of such a mod, whether it be a finished one or a WIP, please point me in that direction. If there isn't such a mod and some modder that can figure it out would like to make it, I would be greatly appreciative.

There is a mod that sets the pc to essentially invincible, same as the essential npcs. Your health drops to zero, and you collapse to one knee. Haven't tried it, but I wonder if that might be of interest to you.

I have tried that, actually. It's ok. Or rather, it would be, but it doesn't work very well with the "potions heal over time" type mods. And it seems to be kind of random as to how long it takes you to get up. Sometimes it seems like you'd never get up without the aid of an instant-heal potion. Other times you're down for like half a second and then back up. Regardless, I'd like some consequence to dying. Even if it's only so much as having to run back to where I was. I appreciate the suggestion, though.

Yes, yes. Though it seems to be a fairly common assumption that auto and quick saves can/will eventually corrupt your save. I have no idea whether or not that's actually true, but I see no reason to tempt it. That aside, if I remembered to quick save every 5 minutes, I'd also remember to manually save. It's not that I'm too lazy to do a manual save. I just caught up in the adventure aspect of the game and forget how much time has passed. But even if I could always remember to save when I should, I think a 'respawn on death' mod would be an enjoyable addition to the game.

If you're talking about something like Oblivion's Alternatives To Death And Reload mod, then no, I'm not aware of any mod like that (yet) for Skyrim. The nearest mod to what you want, that I can think of, is http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1353207-rel-death-has-consequences/.

I actually noticed that one (Death Has Consequences) the other day. I saw the name and thought it might be exactly what I was looking for, but it's actually just the negative half lopped onto the normal 'having to reload.' :sadvaultboy: I imagine I'll just have to wait for someone else that wants more of an mmo-style death, that actually has the skill to make the kind of mod I'm thinking of. I don't, by any means, want to turn Skyrim into an mmo game, but that one aspect I do actually like.

Edit: After having read through more of the thread for that mod, I it might be do-able if enough people seem to want this kind of feature on it. I've seen at least 2-3 people mention it, so I'm hoping for the best.
