Players unite! If you want Bethesda to do anything about per

Hello,

If you want Bethesda to start putting in a serious effort in correcting the performance issues, programming flaws, and bugs in Skyrim for PS3 then you are going to have to talk with your money. I may be new to this website but I have played Skyrim since 11/11/11 and I have easily put in over 500 hours minimum with five different characters and I still play it regularly. I have been reading about, and encountering, first hand, many of the bugs and performance issues related to the programming flaws on Playstation. I am really tired of these issues just like you - just like everyone else who plays this game on PS3. However words alone are not enough to get Bethesda's attention. Only when you threaten not to buy their product will they do something to correct these issues. Now we all already own Skyrim, so they have already made their money in that aspect, however Dawnguard isn't out yet for Playstation. When Bethesda does release the Dawnguard expansion on Playstation Network we should protest the lack of adequate patches for this console by not purchasing the download!

Bethesdsa isn't releasing Dawnguard for PS3 until they correct the issues that - that game already has even before its release on this console. But it doesn't matter if they do release Dawnguard with another patch designed to correct Dawnguards bugs and performance issues. Bethesda needs to put their attention on the original game itself!

Demand that Bethesda start putting out more regular patches for PS3 correcting issues that have existed since day one. State that you will not purchase the Dawnguard expansion, when it comes to Playstation, until Bethesda starts putting in serious and noticeable effort on the original games issues.

A note personal note about Skyrim.

I love ESV Skyrim, and Bethesda should be proud of the game they came out with. Sure the gameplay mechanic isn't perfect and they could have used more imagination for things like boss, monster, and dragon fights, however, for what it is; Skyrim is one of THE very best games I have ever played. We all feel this way about Skyrim, otherwise non of the Playstation players would be so passionate about seeing Skyrim's issues with bugs and programming errors corrected for this console. We want our gameplay to be free of issues not related to the challenge of the game itself. We like this product and want it to function properly.

Bethesda, you have created a great game however you have been like an absentee parent in regards to the Playstation console. I for one will not purchase Dawnguard until you start putting out patches correcting the issues on PS3, on a semiweekly to monthly basis. Until you make that effort, I will not spend any more money on, well, any products from Bethesda for PS3 until you take this action.

Fellow Skyrim players, please stand with me united in demanding that Bethesda take action and regularly deal with all of Skyrims issues on PS3. Until they do, do not buy Dawnguard when it comes out, and until they really do handle the issues that has frustrated all of our gameplay for so long.

Signed by a frustrated customer.

P.S.

If you don't speak with your wallets then Bethesda will have no incentive to do anything else to correct Skyrims issues.

Even thou I love that you want this to end as much as anyone I have to say a few things - the ps3 will most likely not be getting dawnguard for download, the GOTY endition is the most likely you will see it for the ps3. Bethesda can afford to let the ps3 go when it comes to DLC because Microsofts money payed our bill really so they wont lose out. As Murt has said even not buying there games from realese will not affect them because the retailers buy it from them so it damage them not Bethesda so no hope from this to end in future game or this one getting fix and playable to the standard of the other plateforums, but that doesn't mean to stop trying it is (well in my mind) wroth fighting agianst injustice. (a degee of injustice in some forum)

Dawnguard is DLC only at the moment and there does not seem to be any plans to release hardcopy for the game. So right now, Bethesda is selling the game licences direct through download, IE they are getting their money not through a retailer but from the consumers themselves through the various online networks such as Microsoft live, Steam, and inevitably: Playstation Network.

Since Bethesda isn't bothering with retailers they have more to lose by not releasing the game on PSN as well.

Couple things people should do (hell, I did!):
- return Skyrim to the retailers (complain until you get them to take it back, shout at the manager if you have to, worked for me)
- post a review on Amazon (I did and it holds a top ranking)
- post a blog
- comment on Facebook and Twitter as much as you can
- get footage of bugs, crashes, etc. on YouTube
- file a complaint with the FTC (Federal Trade Commission)
- post complaints on gaming sites forums
- hold IGN, GAMESPOT etc. accountable for releasing reviews NOT including PS3 hardware
- hold ANYONE accountable who had the nerve to call this GOTY without further exploring gameplay on all platforms
- never purchase from Bethesda again and warn friends and online buddies against doing so (you got it, bro!)

I know there hasn't been any plans for a hard copy but Bethesda's past has proved that they will most likely do this with there DLCs for Skyrim, they did this with Oblivions and we only got two out of ten. Side note that I forgot the US was the only place where two of Oblivions DLCs could be bought on PSN.

Skyrim is one of THE very best games I have ever played.

Every time I see this line in a post I ask myself "is this person serious or have they just not played many games?" please, get a copy of Fallout New Vegas and play through it on hardcoe mode. Try your very best to ignore the technical problems, Bethesda only gave those poor people one year to make the entire game and then compare to Skyrim and you'll totally re-evaluate the way you look at RPGs forever.

Other than that little bit, good post, I agree with all of it up to the personal note, then our opinions differ somewhat.

Lol! Actually I buy a new game to play once a month, often used, albeit. However I don't usually keep a game after I have finished it unless I plan on replaying it and Skyrim has been a keeper with a lot of replay value for me just because of its immense size. I have since buying Skyrim bought and played Batman Arkham CIty (kept), Silent Hill Downpour(sold), Mass Effect 3 (Sold with anger along with ME2 a previous keeper), Spec Ops The Line (Not what I expected), Diablo 3 (still play), Star Wars The Old Republic (no longer play), Dragons Dogma (Sold, fun at first but because without fast travel it becomes very repetitive), Uncharted 3 (Sold, but still fun). This doesn't even count the platformers I am constantly buying and playing.

I am a gamer and no I don't think that Skyrim is a perfect game, but I still think that it is great one. I am well aware of Skyrims flaws such as the obvious stories, many two dimensional characters, lack of imagination in boss battles, and more. However in my opinion Skyrim is a great game, of course, my list of great games includes easily a hundred other titles going back 30 years. I do think that Skyrim could have been more focused in its approach, but for what it is I love Skyrim. There are only a few games that have impressed me as much as Skyrim and its MASSIVE size. Dragon Age Origins holds a better place for me but I only put in a fraction of the hours that I put into Skyrim. There is just so much to do.

P.S.

One current obsessive game is "Cthullu Saves the World", at least until I play Guild Wars 2

I may be using my imagination too much but lets think very conspiracy theory for a minute:

The majority at Beth are a bunch of nerds who are good with numbers. All of this has already happened with the other games when it comes to the PS3. Let's say they anticipated all this would happen. The buggyness, the DLC, the patches, all that fun stuff. Based on stats on past games, PS3 is the one that made less amount of money from retail game sales and from DLC. You got to remember these people create games with a lot of twists and the thought of "what would happen if?" Now, based on the success the game had they decided to up the price of the DLC from $10 to $20 due to its high demand (all Beth DLCs were priced at $10 except Shiv Isles, but, you know SI is another game). Making the DLC double the price would very well cover the losses generated by the poor sales the PS3 will have with the DLC. So there really is no need to change the formula when it comes to the PS3 and no amount of nerdrage will make beth change their ways. What ever little effort the make with Dawnguard for PS3 will make some nice pocketchange. You even have people requesting that its released with all the bugs. So Beth is at a point right now where they can do no wrong and all of our complaints combined will have no effect at all.

And that just makes me want to puke.
