Does Dosbox solve the invisible item/quest mob bug or do I need to do the small partitions thing? Last time I tried to play this I got invisible items but I forgot if I was using Dosbox.

No, you shouldn't encounter it with DOSBox.

It generally only happens if you try to run Daggerfall in Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista/7. There been a few reports of it also happening on Windows 9x, but that's extremely rare.
