Playing a mage is frustrating.

Theirs that one perk in Destruction which staggers all enemies when you hit them with a dual-casted spell...

I've rarely die now since I got that OP perk.

At least conjuration works for you, mine is bugged so bad... I have to spam cast it in order for the [censored] thing to appear, and once you cast it the sound can be heard by everyone... So when it fails to appear.... Yeah................... :banghead:

Intially until you get the perk to double your distance, there is a very short range to get conjuration off. Look at the end of your mouse target, if it's red you out of range and won't be able to get a pet off.

When I play as a pure mage, I make sure to bring at least three invisibility potions with me when going to dangerous places. You need to have some kind of 'panic button' to get you out of a hot situation. Remember, dungeons will set to your level when you first go into them and stay that way for the rest of the game. So if you get beat down, pay them a visit later when you are about 10 levels higher. There are some Spriggans in a cave near Solitude that are getting a visit from me after I level up about 5 more times.

We shouldn't have to use an "OP" or "stupid" as I see it, mechanic to get a viable mage.

It feels really stupid staggering someone over and over and over and over and over and over while your "Destruction" (Whittling more like it!) magic whittles away at there health. Yeah, that's fun. For some I guess, but not me.

I don't want OP mages, I just want a fair "slugfest" in battles. To do that, Destruction needs to be, well, destructive, no?

That makes no sense at all. For a melee build, doing a power attack for extra damage AND THE STAGGER EFFECT, is key.

To act like using a key part of your arsenal is in any way bad is just stupid.

I like that perk too, but sometimes the target is hit so hard that I have trouble finding them. Makes the play interesting though.

You mean "part of your arsenal". That's your game. I, do not agree, and have the right to play as I see it. It is a single game experience after all. If I feel something is stupid/OP/broken, even if it helps, I wont use it.

Shouts have a cool down timer, maybe stagger should to? Why should I waste the time preventing them from attacking and whittling them down very slowly when I can just open the console and type disable or kill? It's the same freaking thing just faster! They have no defense against the console either.
