Playing racing games but unable to drive in RL

Post » Sun May 19, 2013 8:18 pm

Hey guys, how do you feel (if you can't drive) when you play racing games? Does it make you feel bummed out, or do you not care? Me I am 24 years old and in the UK and have still not passed my driving test, I have taken it twice and failed with 1 major on each (reasons I won't bore you with now), the exam is so strict here, and it bums me out a little when I play racing games because I think to myself that I can't pick my real life car, and when I do pick a car and race I just think "damn, if I had a license I could try one of these cars out for real!"

How do you guys feel about it?

Meh, i only play Wipeout:cool: If those things existed in real life, then i'd bummed out :hehe:

But seriously, sometimes when playing Gran Turismo, with the cars that are available to everyone yes. On the other hand, i realise i'm saving tons of money for not having car by not having to pay for the insurance, fuel, and keeping it working

I'd wager that driving a car IRL is a lot harder than holding down 'W'.

I never liked racing games, with the exception ofhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-vV_vT6bcY, which I played to death when I was still way too young to even think about getting my driver's license. I've had my license for about six years now, I don't have a car and I practically never drive. Driving is okay, but not something I enjoy a lot.

:lmao:

Well, i always play GT with manual transmission and sticks for steering and brake/accelerator. It about as close as to real as you can get with a controller. I learned one thing pretty quickly: a car can't brake and turn at the same time :lmao: Except the ones in Wipeout, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4594jgcGJE :hehe:

Nah I don't think non-sports cars can drift :).

I actually don't want to learn to drive because I'm always so out of it and am prone to getting into deep thought where I will forget to pay large amounts of attention. Besides, I don't want to know what'd happen if I had a panic attack or anxiety attack while driving. Vowed to not drive or learn to until I know I am ready the minute I became 16.

I don't play many games where racing or even car driving in general is a huge thing. I did recently get Test Drive Unlimited 2 and love it, but more because of the big world. I also like WipEout and some other racing games, but that's about it. If a racing game has a lap mode, I'll just play that.

If you think the U.K driving tests are bad--you should check out ours in Norway. Cost me almost 4,000 bucks, and took me 3-4 months.

Racing games don't really bum me out, unless I get jealous of all the great cars I'll never have. I failed my first driving exam, so I was a little bummed then, and would probably be even more bummed if I played racing games after getting home with no license, and having to wait one month for my next chance.
