Playing Xbox360 game sounds through a headset

Post » Mon Sep 03, 2012 1:40 pm

I recently purchased the Razer Orca gaming and music headset. To connect this to the Xbox controller for use with my xbox i bought this converter

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Headset-Earphone-Converter-Adapter-Xbox/dp/B0069WJ56I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346609614&sr=8-1

However, upon plugging my headset into the adaptor and then the adaptor into my 360 controller, the game noise still plays out through the TV instead of my headset.

Is there an option on the Xbox to change it so the sound plays out of your headset? or have I purchased the wrong item and need a different part to make it work

(Sorry about this silly question... I'm a bit of a tech newbie :P)

Thanks.

I bought a turtle beach which comes with everything you need. There's an option somewheres on the xbox menu that allows you to play chat sound through either the tv or the mic but i'm not sure about other sounds.
