Plea to the Developers

Post » Sat Dec 04, 2010 12:54 am

Im not too bothered that the expansion isnt out or the lack of information. I understand that these things take time.

What i kinda feel let down by is the lack of communication. Even if you have nothing new to say, or no new info has come forward.

It only takes 20 secs to make a forum post. So why not just keep us updated, once a week would be fine, even if its just to say
"We are working on getting Honest Hearts out"
or
"We are still unsure of when Honest Hearts will be released we are in communication with microsoft and sony to try and get it rolled out, will keep you posted"

Hope you take this onboard. Would set allot of peoples mind at ease if you just kept us posted.

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Bethesda is the that is to tell us. All they say is "Soon" when people ask when things are going to come out. They are sill trying to get the patch working right.

Im not complaining that they dont have info on patch release, ive had to deal with microsoft and sony and it aint ez. I dont envy that.

But i would like them to tell us they have no info. Rather than just staying silent.

I agree they should deffinentally put a small message each week just to keep us following the DLC and to keep us posted and in the loop.

Right NOW, I think the problem could be Microsoft, Steam, or more likely atm, Sony. Remember that Bethesda is trying to get the next three DLC's released at once on each platform. IE: Honest Hearts cross the boards' release would be may 2nd and so on. (Note this is not a proven date, just an example.)

I suppose it's just theres some red tape that has yet to be crossed.

I have to say, I think The folks over at Obsidian have done a good job keeping in touch with the players. almost daily I see J.E. Sawyer post along with Chris Avellone every so often.
it more than I can say about Bethesda (other than Gstaff :) ) When was the last time you saw Todd Howard post in the Fallout or Oblivion boards?

Wait what? The only time I see J.E. Sawyer post is in weapon threads mostly, and I havent seen Chris Avellone post since like early march or something.

Not to say Obsidian is being very communicative, just not as much as you're claiming.

i think todd howard couldn't care less what's going on with NV at this point. i'm guessing "all" of his time is dedicated to skyrim...don't ya think?

I agree, I don't mind having to wait so much. Its the lack of info that makes it so irritating. I'm still hoping for some actual info on HH on Tuesday and I'm really worried that this crap with PSN will keep them from releasing it even longer...not sure how long it'll be till they fix it, but it sounds like it'll take weeks.

well I'm not sure what they can really talk about I'd assume anything with Microsoft, Sony, and Steam would involve a lot of info that they aren't allowed to talk about and they've already said we'd get more info "soon" dou you really want another update that doesn't tell us anything they'll talk when their ready to actually announce something

no, don't think the problem is with the networks. What it IS is that now they've released the patches, they have to get their testers to play HH again, to make sure there aren't any new bugs introduced by the patch. (and twice, in the case of xBox). If they DO find anything, they have to recompile/re-release to vendors, and that could take weeks. So they're making sure everything is running smoothly before moving forwards.

That being said, Josh is quick enough to come here and sit around for hours shooting the breeze about guns, and kudos to him for doing that. Wouldn't hurt Gstaff or Jason one of the other Beth bigwhigs to come on here once a day either, if only to say "hope everyone is ok this fine day" or "not long now" or "here is a teaser pic to keep you going".

Much like the Mojave, all we get are tumbleweeds rolling past in the wind. And it's p***ing people off. The whole point of social internet, forums, twitter, facebook, is that you interact with your fans (for that's what we are), not just pop up once every six months to make a statement then vanish again. Is it crucial for the running of your business? Probably not. Does it make good business sense to keep your fans happy and rooting for you? Absolutely. Brand loyalty. If the Bethesda/Obsidian brand starts getting a bad name for messing around it's users, then that kind of mud sticks. Hope it doesn't, but mentions of New Vegas lately have, for the most part, ALL been "where is the DLC?" "any news on the DLC?"

I think that the point is that saying "something" is better then nothing at all in this situation. Even if someone from Bethesda told us they had a cheese sandwich today and that it was pretty tasty, I wouldn't care really, but its still human of them to have a dialogue. Saying nothing to me suggests that they have nothing positive to tell us. At this point I don't see them changing their ways that much, although it would be a nice move in the right direction if they did.

Here's an idea:

Jason Bergman constantly gives links/info on his Twitter - http://twitter.com/#!/loonyboi

yeah, he constantly posts how much he is enjoying Portal 2.... Bethblog suffers from the same syndrome this forum does - news only when there is some.

As knocks88 said, it would be "human of them to have a dialogue" with us. Just one "hey, we're still waiting, it's going to be another three weeks" or something would be all I ask, so I can go off and do something else instead of coming here constantly looking for updates (as splendid as the company is :) )

I believe that nothing will be announced or released until the PSN is back up and running. . .at the end of May.
