Please add "DiD", insane mode, without fast travel!

Post » Sun May 20, 2012 3:40 pm

Witcher 2 has been given an extra difficulty setting (it already had DiD mode) so there is a company that does these kinds of things...

I really hope Bethesda does the same...

I know there is a "DiD" thread but it's much better when there is a game option (with some extra's maybe) where "Dead is dead"...

In the sense of: Your "DiD" (or however you want to call it) save games will be deleted upon death.

"DiD" mode:

- Saving is only possible when a timer of 10-20 seconds runs out and you are not attacked
- More tension to not lose your save games so more immersion in travel is possible and thus fast travel is not needed and removed...

(optional) - Quitting the game without saving automatically removes the DiD save game also...

I actually want my first playthrough to be like this...

I know I can follow the DiD thread and I know I can skip fast travelling...

But a game is a epic game when it plays YOU... A game gives immersion when it is really hard.

Imagine playing tetris and with the select button you can always spawn a long 4x1 block...
Of course you don't HAVE to use it, but it's still there...

Please Bethesda... Add an "insane" mode (DiD) where save games are deleted upon death... Just like in The witcher 2...
And also remove fast travel in that difficulty level...

Tonight I'll make a petition, I hope other people want this as well.

Don't think petitions are allowed on the forums I'm afraid. :(

UMMM, you do know you can just make a choice to play this way right? I mean I already play this way, we have called it Ironman Style for years.

i do like the idea of a mod that deletes your saves when u die!

and also remove fast travel

i dont use fast travel anyway but im not against a mod making it so i cant also.

sure u can play like this as it is, but i want to feel that fear knowing i cant change the outcome!

at teh moment i dont have the self control to do a DiD playthrough without reverting back to save!

Have we as a species seriously lost all self control whatsoever?

Why waste Bethesda's time putting in difficulty modes to cater to every whim or combination of whims that a player could have?

Want save games deleted on death? Delete your savegame when you die.

Want no saves except on exit? Only save just before you quit.

Want no fast travel? Dont use fast travel.

It's not DiD if it includes saving.

Besides, the Witcher 2 svcks.

It's cool that The Witcher 2 did that, but you don't actually need a mode for that. You can just... do it. If you don't have the discipline to do it without the game doing it for you, I've got serious doubts about your ability to do it to begin with.

When I say "you" and "your", I'm not referring to anyone in particular. Just to head off that possible foolishness before it starts.

I'd find myself waiting around for 20 seconds after each battle to save. It wouldnt be fun to stare at my screen for 20 seconds, and if i didnt want to do that id browse the web for 20 seconds. That would just take the immersion away from skyrim imo, id rather stare at my screen and lose track of time for 8 hours flat instead of being reminded that im just a human being sitting in front of a computer screen at the end of each battle.

If you'd like to play that way, you should download this awesome mod called "Willpower".

Self-discipline. It’s a great mode. You don’t even have to download it.

All these things you want to do in the game are already possible with the game as it shipped.

hurr hurr...

I mean a game mode similair to Witcher 2's "insane" mode... I just called it "DiD" for convenience...

I'm not talking about the quality of Witcher 2... I'm just referring to that difficulty level where death means your "insane" save games are gone...

Sure you can already play like that but it is just better to know that you REALLY can't mess up...

I mean sure you can role play any way you want without fast travel etcetera... But it's just better when it's not there...

I gave an example of tetris... If the select button on your oldskool gameboy was the panic button to clear 4 bottom rows of course you can just choose to not use it... But it just feels better when it's not there...

A game is a game, a challenge is a challenge... Not "ow I can cheat and make it ultra easy if I want, but I'll just don't do that"

What if there was a glitch or even just an option to walk towards the end boss and defeat him with an abuse?? Of course you wouldn't want to do that and you would play fair...
But it's just better if it's not an option...
The same is with fast travel and "DiD"
