Please fix the up and down mouse movement

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 11:33 am

Looking up and down is so slow, its maddening. Corpse looting is a chore. Please at least give us a line item in the prefs ini file so we can experiment with different speed values.

It got fixed for me automatically after the tutorial. I did change some stuff in the ini file though... dunno if that did it

Did you try changing the "Mouselook Speed" setting in the options? The default speed was maddeningly slow on my PC when I first started playing the game, but I moved the slider over almost to the maximum spot on the slider (well, maybe about 85 or 90%, and it got quite playable)?

I had the same issue with the mouse speed. Disabling the Xbox controller in the settings helped me a lot.

I have the same problem, vertical mouse movement is rediculously slow. Ive got the mouse sensitivity turned up to max but this makes the horizontal rediculously fast! Theres another thread about this with 150 posts! A lot of people are experiencing this and nothing seems to be working to fix it

As you say, the main thread documents this problem very well.

There is serious bug in the game engine's control implementation affecting mouse and controller inputs. The Y axis (up and down) mouse movement sensitivity is directly tied to the framerate, meaning more frames per second = higher Y axis sensitivity!

This is a VERY serious error which for many of us with particularly high or low spec systems is making the game unplayable.

Seriously? That's brilliant.

I was wondering about this. I cranked the mouse sensitivity all the way to the right and tried tweaking the .ini file. The horizontal motion is fast and fluid. The vertical motion is like slogging through mud. It's about 1/10 of the horizontal speed. It's like my character is wearing a neckbrace. Looking down takes serious effort.

Even applying those changes to the Skyrim .ini settings file, the Y-axis mouse movement is STILL linked to framerate.

It's a very serious bug that's making the game almost totally unplayable for some, as on almost all systems there is always a large difference in framerate between indoor and outdoor areas.

Bethesda really needs to fire off the sloppy programmers responsible for this. Even minimum of beta testing would have shown this problem.
