I dont want this game turning into SWTOR. You should make the game worth its subscription fee, unlike SWTOR. Now its forced to go free to play with microtransactions.

Please let everyone have an equal opportunity to get items. Please no microtransactions.

Or why not just a one-time purchase?

A subscription fee would all but ensure that the game turned into TOR. The Guild Wars 2 model is better imo.

Well the free2play model is finally busting. It seems games based on bad games focused on a minority of game players (The hardcoe Minority) the bubble is finally bursting and companies are going out of buisness.

SWTOR started with subscriptions, so you actually want TESO to be exactly like it ;)

Or why not just a one-time purchase?
Yup. This would make me buy the game, and I'm not even interested in playing it.

Subscriptions don't work in MMO's anymore, WoW's success is rare... and even they are starting to feel the effects of subscriptions not working anymore as they lost millions of subscribers.

I would prefer they do the Guild Wars 2 model myself, buy in-store with micro-transactions on top. As long as they keep the micro-transactions balanced, and offer some way to earn them in-game too it could work well. MMO's don't last forever, and you don't need everything that is in an MMO like a single player game.

Doesnt work? You guys should be happy Anet did a game for you guys, dont expect it to change anything at all. Rift is still sub based game after 2 year, TSW, Darkfall, SWTOR, it works and it still the best for us players and devs.

Only thing I'd change nowadays is to give some discounts / veteran rewards for longterm players. IMHO they need them. I bet they get shiload of money if they offer pre-launch / first month offer 50-80 bucks a year too &--#60;-- those people who pay full priced game, kinda deserves discount.

I'm talking in terms of WoW success, these games will never have more than a few million subscribers. TES is a huge brand, bigger than all those expect possibly SWTOR, whose fans are use to big games with one price, it will be very difficult to convince them to pay a subscription fee.

Also SWTOR is going F2P on Nov. 15.

It's always pay for sub or buy premium items. You do the math what suits you better, 10$ per month, or 60$+ per month to keep up with rich kids and have a fair fight.

It all depends on the game, you can have a balanced game with premium items.

I honestly am hoping against a sub fee. I like the micro transaction thing, as long as you can't buy stuff that will make you more powerful from said micro transactions.

Well that doesnt surprise me at all. Good games are still sub games. Rift is at 100k, and making 1-2 mill monthly after 2 year, Im 100% sure this does better than Rift.

If the game will have premium items who do not affect your gameplay, like extra damage/crit/any stat at all, no weapons, no armor, no gold, etc, then I have nothing against it. But it's really hard for developers to draw a line when it comes to this, because in order to encourage people to pay for premium items, those items have to be useful at some points.

I have never played an mmo because the idea of paying each month for a game I have already purchased seems a waste of money, if this game goes down that route I may stick to the other games in the series and the endless mods, which would be a shame as questing with friends around familiar places would be amazing.

Star Wars has over its break-even point of 500k subscribers and is still going F2P, so it's not like they were being squeezed for money. F2P is just kind of where the industry is heading and has the best chance of your game seeing the most PC screens throughout the world. Lower entrance fee (aka no subscription) gives higher chance for someone to try the game.

SW:TOR did not fail because of subscription, omg. B2P arguments FTW.

ESO will have subscription, because they invested too much to throw it into B2P basket. I am not worried anymore.

Never said this game was not going to be sub based. I'm just saying that the industry is heading that way from what I have been seeing. Just used swtor as an example since someone else for backing up my point of F2P doesn't just mean bad game or failure. I happened to enjoy it when I played it so meh.

Well for me its, from devs perspective, if you have a steady income just like EA lied 500k subs, no they dont want to lose it. F2P and sub fees in this genre means, devs are struggling.

It does not mean games are a failure, it's just how the industry is changing...
