Been playing skyrim obviously and its effing amazing!!! However I dont get a few things. And a lot of questions popup after I've been around in whiterun. I've left whiterun but the questions remain.

Like whats up with "the war" and how are the different factions standing towards eachother. There's the imperial, stormcloaks, etc and then you got battle-born and gray-mane in whiterun etc. What about talos what's that all about? When you start the game who took me to the first town (not saying a name might be spoiler). Basicly what kind of situation is skyrim's in with all these faction when you start, I'm not asking about all the dragon stuff here.
And as last, is there a ruler in skyrim and is there a capital city like you had the imperial city in oblivion. And if so just saying yes will suffice
