Poor Aranea(Very minor spoilers)

Post » Thu Aug 09, 2012 5:50 am

When you've completed Azura's quest in Azura's favor, Aranea says she wont be having any visions anymore, and that she feels alone for the first time in years. When I heard that, and I saw her sad face, and realized she'd spend the rest of her days in freezing solitude by that shrine, my heart broke. Despite that fact I was RP'ing a Dunmer who was the biggest [censored] since the Camoran Usurper, I wanted to help her. But I was playing an assassin and I had Jenassa, so having a mage as a follower instead of a duel-wielding assassin wasn't really an option. So I let her join the Blades, so she wouldn't be alone, at least. Now I've told my encounter with her, I'd like to know if others had such feelings, and if they took her as follower or Blade because of that.

Yep. The one time I did this quest I couldn't bear the idea that she would spend her days alone on that mountain, with no purpose in life. Even though I really didn't want a follower at that point, I couldn't leave her there. I took her with me.

You monster! Although putting her soul in something she despises is pretty nice.

I took her along for a while. She is quite impressive in battle.

However, like most followers, they ultimately get fired. I do go back to the Shrine from time to time to visit her. Shame they did not give her a hut or something to hang out in.

Aranea: "…for the first time, I feel alone."
Me: "You know, if you got the aptitude, you should join the college of Winterhold."

I think she really should. As the archmage I should have the option to recruit her.

Took her. My character is an urban guerrilla with a conscience; she needs spiritual guidance from time to time. That they're both Dunmer and Azura worshippers helps too.

The real question is; why did you give the star to azura? --- spoiler below, dont know how to make spoiler tag ---
For one you said yourself that you were a dark elf [censored]. So why not screw over azura, she plays around with people's lives like they're toys (Aranea for example)
And second, the Black star is way better then azura's star. With azura's star you gotta go kill things like mammoths for grand souls (not very hard). Whereas the black star, you can soul trap a level 1 [censored] bandit and still get a grand soul out of it.

I may be a Dunmer [censored], but I love my people and I revere the three good Daedra(Azura,Mephala,Boethiah). I kill, [censored] and pillage, but when someone hurts a Dark Elf, I turn into a Dunmer Paladin, and avenge or help them. I killed Nelacar for merely suggesting to betray Azura.

I really miss that stigma of evilness that went with dark soul gems in Oblivion. Without it, the whole Black Star/Star of Azura thing is a pointless, since it's now only a boring question of optimization.

I put her soul in a black soul gem and made a sword name Aranea so this way she will always be with me :)

Yeah it does get boring to quick and I always find myself starting a new game. I haven't even got the level 50 achievement because it usually gets boring around level 20. I never had this problem with fallout.

EDIT: oops wrong thread

I almost never choose Azura's Star over the Black Star, so I usually kill her anyway.

I guess it could be considered a mercy, seeing as she'd spend the rest of her life freezing alone.
