I have a Creative X-Fi soundcard. I have Win7 Pro x64. My windows control panel for sound is set to put out 7.1 surround sound, and my Creative control panel is set to Headphone mode, so that it emulates 7.1 (or at least 5.1) surround sound through the headphones.

I can correctly identify the location of, and shoot/kill a cloaked enemy spy in TF2 with my eyes closed (as long as it's really quiet and they're moving around). That's how good the positional audio is with headphones on with my computer.

However, in RAGE (RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE!), all sounds, everywhere, sound like they're completely surrounding me, and/or occurring inside my head. i.e. It's not even stereo, much less 5.1 or 7.1 sound.

What gives? Is there a console command I need to run to force this game to run in something other than mono sound?
