Positive information regarding the game.

Lets all post something positive regarding what we know about the game.

Combat mechanics are not like wow, though to some of you the hot-bar and the 3rd person view are all you need to compare it to wow because you dont have anything else to compare it to. but lets take a look at why that system is not loved. its complicated and requires you to be able to activate many abilities in sequence.
its stale and stagnant.

this mmo will not be like that.

"the limitation on the number of skills available at one time mostly does away with the concept of skill "rotations" that much of the class design of an mmo like world of warcraft is built upon."

that is just the beginning of what seems to be some solid viceral looking combat for something with a hot-bar.

the currently equipped weapon determines the first two skills on the hotbar, the rest are class abilities, and finally an ultimate move powered by "finesse" points.

not to mention the active blocking and stamina system.

co-operative combo moves like a rogue throwing down an oil slick, and a mage lighting it on fire.

guess what that all reminds me of.

NO QUEST HUBS! I tried out TERA, but was unable to keep playing because I'm so tired of the same old: go here, talk to every npc, fill up quest log, go do boring quests, turn in quests, go to next quest hub. Bleh.

Looking forward to wandering around and just discovering content.

Congragulations you have the only positive post ive seen (and remember) so far. it's a shame people are willing to be so negative with still knowing so little about it.

Another one: A game with an end game designed around persistent PVP. Well designed PVP (ala DAOC) never gets old, and will keep the player base busy while the devs make new content!

Overall, very excited about this, even with so few details confirmed. A game like this has been awaited since Daggerfall by me, maybe earlier by some. I was hoping that they would continue with the defining a character through progression instead of set classes, but that would make it very difficult to map out bosses and fights, but since they stated they are trying to get away from the "tank/heals/DPS" cclassifications, I am still very happy. :D And the fact that they ARE maintaining core elements of TES that make the games so playable and replayable warms my heart.

The 'War for Cyrodiil' thing sounds neat, if rediculously lore-destroying and under-developed.
Also, the Elk.

YES! Breaks from mmo convention such as holy trinity, original?...no, more like following an evolution started by arena-net lol.
THATS A GOOD THING!

and i love that there are still options for those who are serious TES players. all you need is to join an ROLE PLAY server lol.
the combat will be different, and i doubt it will be practical or fun to play in first person [all mmo's i have played have allowed for this, its just ridiculous to try to play this way] but it seems like a natural thing to do at this time.

maybe its not innovative enough for some, but i never played these games for the combat, i would have commited suicide back in morrowind if that was the case :/

The game is going to blow everyone's expectations away. and then they'll say that it was a good idea.

well that does not bother me, because i feel very little attachment to guild wars lore....and i have practically lived in tamriel for nearly 10 years...

...Hasn't that been attempted before? Only, it worked differently in theory than in practice? Or is the game I'm thinking of a victim of executive meddling or something? I can't remember the title off the top of my head, but I could have sworn there was another MMO that tried to mix up the typical hotkey system but it didn't work out as hoped...

the only game that comes to mind is ddo, but it was not open world.
and i believe its player support that makes or breaks an mmo, the lore for wow is what drew people in, that and the fact that it went viral.
this will have the same effect, because the elder scrolls is now MORE POPULAR than warcraft lore.

Yes! I'm really hoping the rumours / leaks are true on this one, because I've always felt that quest hubs in MMOs were very "artificial" constructs that forced you into a linear path. If anything the lack of quest hubs tells me that they are going to make this a pretty sandboxy game.

im surprised the media have not made the guild wars 2 comparison yet, its not like they dont look at scans like we do XD
i was disappointed with the destructoid commentary, i would have rather heard jim sterlings views, but im sure he is planning assassinations for whoever is responsible for making the mmo in the first place. LOL
