Possible fix for CTD

Hi All,

I'm running Windows XP, I have an older system, It's a Core Duo with 4 gigs of ram an a 280GXT. I have been struggling with CTD's since day 1, the game went down more than once an hour. I stumbled on a thread somewhere saying adding some lines to the ini file to limit the number of threads the game uses and that seemed to help a bit, but everytime the game started up it remade the INI file, so I tried this real old utility I used to have to use for certain games back when dual core processors first started coming out.

It's called WinLauncher XP and you can use it to limit a processs's affinity to a single core. I was getting desperate so I threw it back on and so far through four hours of play I haven't gotten a crash yet. Basically you add the games EXE file to this utility then configure it to only use core 1, then start the game via the utility.

You can grab the utility here: http://majorgeeks.com/WinLauncherXP_d870.html

It's not perfect, once in awhile the audio will stutter a little bit briefly, and I did notice that in places where in my opinion the game would have crashed (based on previous crashes), instead it freezes for 15-20 seconds, but IMO that's better than a crash.

Feel free to try this, YMMV, and I hope it helps a few people.

Good luck!
