Possible FIX for Mouse issues related to FPS

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 10:27 am

Good evening,

Ive been trying to get the game to work since it got released and finally found a way to manipulate the game to cap the fps @ 60 without using Vsync with can introduce input lag
and therefore stopping the crazy Mouseaccel you get indoors and sometimes outdoors

To do this i used a program called BandiCam, it has an inbuilt FPS limiter that works on just about anything ( no need for recording, it support Limiting without recording)

Link: http://www.bandicam.com/downloads/

simply install this program witch is basicly a Recording program such ar Fraps or Dxtory

and go to the FPS tab, check "set FPS limit"
Uncheck "only when capturing"

you can dial in any fps you want

Enjoy constant mouse reactions

Ps: might need some tweaks in terms of X and Y axis

To do this use the commands

[Controls]
fMouseHeadingYScale=0.005 PLay with these settings until you got a right feeling
fMouseHeadingXScale=0.010 PLay with these settings until you got a right feeling

These setting can be added in the Skyrim.ini => location for Win7x64= C:\Users\Username\Documents\My Games\Skyrim

let me know how it worked for you, it did wonders for me, i can go inside now without overly sensitive Controls

This is exactly the problem that I really think is gamebreaking at the moment... I'm loving Skyrim but the indoor madness needs to stop. I might just give this a try later this evening, will let you know if there's any results.

The game needs "hardware mouse support". The dev's have to fix it. From what I read on forums from previous ports, it is not an easy thing to do.

Good workaround, and thanks for posting.

But remember, this will only prevent the fps from going above a given limit.

Due to poor optimization, the fps will still fluctuate significantly.

Various low performance areas, settlements for example, will result in poor frame rates and therefore lowered Y axis sensitivity!

Basically, this isn't something WE can fix, Bethesda need to get on this ASAP.

It even affects the gamepad, try it!

The game must have gone through QA running at the lowest possible graphical settings and with Vsync enabled, as I noticed this issue within about 30 seconds of disabling Vsync...

this is mainly for INDOOR area's, ofc i didnt have much problems in outdoor area's, its just a workaround, like they did in the Old Oblivion Stutter remover
By preventing Higher Fps you can keep you mouse reaction equal to outdoor scenarios

it might increase tearing a little bit, but its a good tradeoff tbh, i rather have tearing than unusable Mousecontrols

Those setting are not even in the INI files on my PC

The only two I can find are:
fMouseHeadingSensitivity=0.0500
bMouseAcceleration=1

You need to add them under the section Controls, i hadnt had them nativly either, its a Commandline i found of the the interwebz

i actually SAY it must be added "These setting can be added in the Skyrim.ini => location for Win7x64= C:\Users\Username\Documents\My Games\Skyrim"

Limiting the FPS also fixes this issue:

I've tried it all with and without editing various parts of the ini but the mouse is still virtually useless.
I cannot look up to see the dragon and it takes about 15 x6inch downward drags of the mouse just to look at the ground
I'll have to wait for xmas and see if santa brings me a better video card because it may be the problem..

If your FPS is too low, limiting your fps won't help.

It might helps some, but it won't fix anything. The problem is that for some bizarre reason the mouse-look sensitivity is tied to frame rate. I haven't the first clue how they did that, or even WHY they would that.... Horizontal mouse-look is completely unaffected.

So basically, the higher your frame rate, the better the vertical mouse-look will get. However, if your frame rate gets too high, then you have the problem of making yourself physically ill from the rapid mouse-look movements. Also, higher frame rates is bad because it's been tied to another fairly serious issue in the physics engine. People with very high frame rates are reporting objects flying through the air when they enter certain cells, at incredible velocities. One player reported he was almost killed by a spoon...

I use this FPS limiter (only works on DX9 games) http://www.kegetys.net/dl.php/d3d_antilag101.zip

Just drop the DLL and .ini in the folder that contains the .exe for the game and edit the .ini to your requirements.

Best limiter i've used. never had any problems with any game i've used it with

Its absolutely hilarious that we are forced to seek out programs to LIMIT the fps on this game. How in the world Y axis sensitivity is tied to fps is beyond me.
