Is it possible to get a refund on Dawnguard?

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 10:10 pm

I have purchased the dawnguard dlc and i keep running into the same gamebreaking bug over and over. The gate will not open on the awakening quest. I have uninstalled the entire game reinstalled everything. Moved my saves to cloud storage. So i started a new character got him to lvl 10 and the same bug pops up again i am just unable to leave to cave. I am beyond frustrated at this point i just want my money back. So does anyone have any idea how i would be able to get a refund on this unplayable dlc?

I'm not sure. Try contacting Bethesda directly via email or something. I'm sorry this is happening to you. :(

No there are no refunds. It specifically states this when you download any DLC on Xbox Live on the right hand side of the purchase screen.

I am sorry about this frustrating glitch you are having man, it makes me more grateful that I didn't encounter any myself. Hope you find a way to work things out, I wish you the best!

It does do that but that is mainly just boast as it wholly depends on national laws if a refund is applicable.
In most of these cases however it is not.

Slightly irks me sometimes nonetheless to see such a blanket statement on purchase.
A company does not get to decide that, the law does.

At the OP: Im sorry youre experiencing these bugs. Its not pervasive along all Dawnguard copies because I have none of these issues. This may indicate it is caused by a problem on your end, though it does not have to be.
I have noticed that xboxes near the end of their life start to function progressively worse, can do simple games just fine but freeze more and more on the complicated stuff.

May want to have yours checked out if such a service is available to you at a reasonable price.

As far as I understand it, MS can get around local laws due to the MS points system. Since your "buying" the MS points, thats in effect the "product". Anything you then get with those points is not a legaly a "purchase" and its not with a recognised "currency" so you dont have legal protection under sales laws.

Correct me if Im wrong though, Im not aware of any laws that specifically cover non-currency transactions.

Dutch law would cover that, as far as I know.
I dont think it would regard a product purchased as different from a product purchased via a different curreny, allowing for exhange rate.
I believe, but am no lawyer, that under the laws that govern purchases in my nation the purchase of Microsoft Points would be seen as one currency changing for another and it would, I believe, view the product finally purchased held by our trading laws.
These are mainly there to protect consumers but do go some way into protecting merchants as well therefore I previously said that a refund is often not due.

When it comes to downloadable content with a caveat emptor remark that says 'no refunds', I believe the chances of a refund are slim to none.

Nevertheless.
It still irks me when companies print such a blanket statement. They cant possibly know. They dont make the law everywhere.

Is the gate you're talking about the one at Castle Volkihar? I had the same problem and found a solution if it is...

Pretty sure it says on the xbox marketplace that there are no returns on digital downloads.

Don't know which part in awakening you are talking about but all the gates I have encountered in that quest line have levers or chains to open them.
I ran through it again just to make sure and I had to pull a chain or lever on each gate to advance to the next area
Which specific gate are you talking about?
