Has anyone else noticed, that just recently, if you temper Fur Armor after you have thrown an enchantment on it............ it does not change your actual Armor Rating? As you cannot craft fur armor, I am curious if this is a bug created by recent updates.
I am currently playing on the XBox 360. In the vain of going with a look where my guy actually looks like a barbarian ranger covered in fur pelts, I have periodically taken "found" fur armor, enchanted them with a variety of things, and then tempered them on Blacksmithing Tables. The effort of tempering enchanted fur armor at the table WILL change the "titled" temper status to "Superior" or "Legendary" or whatever your un-boosted or boosted Smithing skill can move it to. Even the numeric value of the Armor's rating will change within the Inventory Menu. However I have recently noticed an issue that when equipped, the actual Armor Rating of your character DOES NOT change.
My Character is Lvl 81 with all skills capped at 100. Within Light Armor he has 7 Perk points attributed, 5 to Agile Defender, 1 to Custom Fit and 1 to Unhindered.
When wearing Fur Armor that has any enchantment, but is "un-tempered", their Armor Ratings are as follows. Fur Bracers 20, Fur Shoes 20 and Fur Armor 76.
When worn, my character's armor rating is a 134.
My Charcter has a Blacksmithing Skill of 100. 6 Perk Points have been attributed, to include Arcane Blacksmith.
With a base Blacksmithg Skill, no buffs or enchanted smithing gear, my character can alter the Armor Value of the enchanted armor to, Fur Bracers 42, Fur Shoes 42 and Fur Armor 120.
The "titled" rating on the armor now states that it is (Flawless).
However, when this now (Flawless) pre-enchanted Fur Armor armor is put on, the character's armor rating is still a 134.
I've only investigated a few others. Tempering Leather Armor after it has been enchanted DOES NOT seem to be an issue, as the character's Armor Rating changes as a result of the efforts put into tempering it. Plus, if you temper un-enchanted Fur Armor, your characters Armor Rating changes to the appropriate values based on the Tempering efforts the armor recieved.
So, the easy workaround is of course to Temper the Fur Armor first, then enchant it.
But I'm pretty certain this had not always been the case as I have made a variety of armor sets whose actual value are where they should be. Only within the last couple of days have I noticed the issue.
I point it out because, if this has been recently affected by updates, there may be other similar trickle down effects that you may be fighing that are related.
Hope this helps someone, somewhere.
