I've always wondered if it was possible to have an animated desktop background. I can easily set images as my desktop background on my Windows 8 PC, but I can't set gifs as a background image. Why not?

You can use animated and interactive wallpapers on mobile smartphones, so why not a PC that's 100x more powerful?
