Is it possible to map Spell to Right Hand?

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 7:46 am

I'm actually a Sword & Shield Warrior who does not use bow. So for range attack I go for Flame, because it's free and unlimited. I'd love to get Firebolt/Fireball for free (not paying 30 Coins or more) but I just coulnd't find one. Anyways, my primary weapon is actually a Shield, not a Sword. This means I always have my Shield up while switching my right hand between Sword & Spell. However, whenever I press the Spell Flame, it always go on my left hand. Forcing me to press Flame twice, then Shield once. Unnecessarily making it 3 keyboard strokes rather than 1 that it should be.

Is there any way to map my Spell to right hand so its 1 Keystroke?
I'm 80 hours into the game now at level 26 and I've been doing this all along. It is rather frustrating when in close combat and I need to have Shield up at all time to block incoming blows but just need to switch my right hand.

Put it in your favorites menu. Choose a hotkey 1-8. Which hand it shows up in is sometimes a bit of a juggle, but generally when I switch to a spell, the spell goes to my left hand while my weapon is in the right.

It has always gone to my left hand when I hotkey it.

To the OP I feel your pain, I dual wield weapons and have to constantly switch from my armor spell/illusion spell/necromancy spell/heal back to my offhand weapon...

Problem is I just want to switch between Sword & Spell on my right hand and that's it. Keep the left hand on Shield at all time. Is there really no way to do this in a game? I have them Hotkey'ed & the Spell always go to the left hand regardless of any conditions.

Problem is, the game assumes you want to use your right hand for your main weapon and your left hand for off-hand. There might be a mod to switch this around already, but if there's not, there probably will be.

open quick menu (Q)

from here it is LEFT mouse click for left hand, RIGHT mouse click for right hand.

u will see an icon at it L = left hand, R= right hand.
L+R = both hands.

edit:
When u arranged it to left and right hand, bind a key to it, like 1 for left hand and 2 for right hand.
now the game knows that it is for left and for right and will equip it as it should be, atleast for me.

Which combinations of Spells/equipment did you bound these keys to? I tried and it did not work. The [R] & [L] sign simply shows the current hand that it is in. It does not show the hand that the key is actually mapped to.

I'm pretty sure you can't assign specific hands without a hotkey mod yet.

The way I work my spells is to press a number to assign that spell to both hands, then a different hotkey to get that spell to my left hand. So I press 1, 1, 4 to get my fire ball spell up in both hands and then close wounds on my left.

You may be able to reduce it to two by pressing the keybind for the sword (to unequip it), then for the spell, but I haven't tried it.

That could really work, I'll give it a try later. Thank you, Kristoffer.
