Is it possible to sneak-kill somebody without alerting other

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 3:46 am

So, been wondering.. let`s say for example that I enter a room in a dungeon with one quard looking at the other direction than where I`m sneaking from.. There`s a corridor next to the room with another guard. Am I able to somehow kill the first guard without alerting the 2nd one? So far everytime I`ve poundered about it and tried to do headshots with arrows etc sneaking behind the enemy and fistpumping him with a greatsword it has been a failure.

Without alerting them: No
Without aggroing them: Yes

They will always be aware if they are close enough that you just killed the guy standing next to them, but most of the time they won't have any idea where you are and will start wandering around looking.

I have killed someone with my Orcish Bow without their mate in the same room noticing.

Yes.

Better weapons, better perks, or weaker enemies. Damage is pretty straightforward.

i've managed to 1-shot sneak attack bandits without causing other bandits to come running. it depends how much noise is made it seems.

a trick i've discovered though that can help control alerted NPCs is to shoot arrows at walls. the "clack" of the arrow will make them head towards there instead (brilliant for sneaking about without using invisibility potions XD )

not true it depends how far away other enemies are...i often killed someone while other enemies were like 30m besides and they didnt notice...but light plays a huge role... its a shame you cant put out torches with arrows

That trick is great and reminds me of the Thief games. I was quite happy when it worked :D

There are only two silent weapons in the game: daggers and bows. I've killed many a foe with sneak dagger attack who was standing less than 10 feet away from another foe and it didn't alert anyone. Line of sight is important. If two foes are facing each other they will notice the other get killed over a pretty far distance. They won't see you if your stealth is high enough but they will go searching. If they aren't facing each other you can silently kill a foe who is very close to another foe. Easily in the same room.

Any other weapons aside from daggers and bows make noise when sneak killing. I believe 1H swords are the quietest but they will still alert most foes.

I've managed to kill without others noticing but it's not as easy as past games, but let's face it if you were in the room with someone and they dropped dead you'd notice however quiet the kill was. I think the level they have it now is much better, after all in Fallout 3 it was possible to kill someone with a sniper rifle without alerting others! Seems better now

With bows its easy to make multiple sneak attacks on the same enemy if you have some range, this was only possible in Oblivion at very high sneak.

If they're not looking, as in, I did it like this once:

[<---Guard looking here] [Me killing target---->] [Target looking here ----->]

And they didn't notice until I was already gone.
