What are you most looking forward too?

The Energy Weapons and weapon mods for sure. Not too excited about the :flamethrower: being an energy weapon, but at least I'll be able to try out fire based weapons without putting points in the Big Guns skill. It's nice that all of the weapons are in the appropriate skill set now.

Just about everything really. I'm excited about all aspects that I've heard about so far. Hopefully there will be more quests but also lots of F3 style exploring.

But I'd have to say I'm especially excited about the hardcoe mode. That sounds right up my alley. I'm playing Fallout 3 right now and it's about my forth playthru and I'm enjoying it almost as much as my first time because I'm playing with sort of my own hardcoe mode (360 so no mods) and the difference it makes is amazing. Just surviving is a constant worry. Every enemy I face gives me pause, because I must make a tactical decision whether or not to engage them based on how much resources I think I will gain compared to how much I will expend. I'm constantly short of ammo so I must keep a weapon of each type and use whatever ammo I have available. I'm always broke, so just putting together enough caps to repair a gun is a rarity, so consequently I must scavenge diligently, which is awesome because I love scaving. It's given the game a whole new feel where simply surviving is your primary objective and that's something the vanilla game missed by a mile.

For anyone who's interested (although I imagine most serious wastelanders will already have their own way to play); To do this I just imposed a couple of simple rules so I don't level up too quick, healing is harder and there's less loot.

Most importantly don't pick locks or hack terminals because you get too much loot and way too much XP. And don't choose any perks that give you more XP or more skill points. I also set my intelligence to four as the higher your intel the more points you get. And read skill books only once.

Only raise your health with stimpacks, blookpacks and doctors. No food, sleep or water.

Play on a difficulty that is challenging to you. I play on hard, and find it quite hard. The key is you must be challenged with nearly every encounter.

And that's basically it. Simple but it makes the world of difference. With not picking locks or hacking terminals, in addition to survival now being a genuine concern I level at a rate I greatly prefer. It actually seems like it takes a long time to level, and I look forward to it, which is the way it should be in my opinion but so rarely is in modern RPGs.

I'm really hoping that if the hardcoe Mode is a success in this game it will be a prereq for other games in the future. I sometimes fantasise about Red Dead Redemption with a hardcoe mode. *sigh*

Top 5 things I'm looking forward to in NV:

  • 5 - Seeing what the "Wild Wasteland" Trait brings in terms of special encounters
  • 4 - Getting into NV proper and playing/breaking the bank in Casino type games
  • 3 - Crafting, Weapon and Armor Modding/Customization
  • 2 - Two Words: hardcoe Mode
  • 1 - Seeing Obsidan's storyline "handiwork" on the FO3 engine

PS: I posted the same answer in the other thread, but since thread this was here first and the other will likely be locked and linked here I thought I'd re-post... :)

Did we play the same game?
Sure the sky could have a slight green tint if you looked far away at the horizon but when I looked up to the sky it was really blue, there were only a crapload of clouds.

[MODS]
Could ya close down one of these two? We have two threads about the same thing.

Not to ruffle your feathers Gabriel, but I'm curious to see what this Repcon business is about *Runs so I dont get beaten*

I'm curios as well, as to what the hell Obsidian was thinking.
Again, if it has a greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaat story behind it then I might be able to overlook it but as it is now it's looks goofy, feels totally ridiculous and seems like a copy pasta of Hubologists from fallout 2.
So I can't do anything but be totally negative over it.
I mean ghouls in [spoiler] trying to fix up a couple of [spoiler] to [spoiler].
At least if the place svcks I won't feel disappointed.
But if it's great then it'll be a welcoming surprise and I'll enjoy it. ;)

I mean, I thought that the over the top pop references was gonna be locked away with Wild Wasteland.

The fact that I could pretty much ignore the main quest if I want and play to see how much money/power I can amass.
