See, what I thought when you said "fixed third person" is that goofy stupid "floaty-run" you did in oblivion and Fallout 3. in third person you look like you're just moving on ice. it's all goofy. They needed to work on giving the character more animations for third person, like better direction detection and stuff. You could be running one way and looking the other, and instead of swiveling at your hips or something, you just continued to "run forward" and just kinda... slide sideways.
I hope they fixed that, it REALLY broke the immersion for me (when I play in third person). otherwise I'd probably play in third person more (I like looking at my character!

)
Yes, those were my thoughts too when i read the thread title. I figured out how to get on Third Person View after leaving the vault, only to be horrified by the Skating Lone Wanderer. It looks so horrible that i have adjust to over the shoulder camera similar to Gears of War to enjoy it.
Also, when i was doing the replicated man quest, i was sure the android was the lone wanderer because he/she doesn't have many facial expressions, just "normal" (which looks like a robot) and "angry", they could give the character a more human expression.
Just my two cents.
