of course, Fallout without raiders is like a fantasy game without swords

Sure, you have bows. But the olde sword is so much more comforting ;)

hehe, Josh has a o_o on his face. awesome. anyway..

nothing new really, at least, not about major features. the biggest thing I heard was about the BoS "if you can find them"

I would totaly find them, and ally with them. Help them out of hiding, and help them destroy their opposition. BoS aren't exactly heroes, but they are cool. They may be slightly elitist, but they have the guns and technology. They are worth saving. However, i don't know the full story. gonna have to read up on the NCR vs BoS scenario.

I certainly hope they don't make a concrete backstory. They should say that he was delivering it from California to New Vegas, nothing more.

Very nice interview, enjoyed the new screenshots of the sniper-scope and of fighting at night - the coloring looks Great at night!

Not as much brand new information, but more clarity on some of the facets - as if I needed to be any-more enticed! :fallout:

Ehh, they really should give him SOME kind of background, for canon purposes. I'm sure we'll find out where he got the package, whats in it, who it was from/to, and I'd also like to know where the courier came from.

All the previous canon titles have you starting out with your origins known. why not New Vegas?

either way, I can't wait!

Yes it should give canon on how the package came to your hands but nothing more.

Hopefully it sticks to a small postal wasteland delivery service that hire you out of the blue with high pay and you think its a deal to sweet to pass up.
To good to be true...

Something vague like that.

I'd rather have it the way it is, as I've already come up with backstories for multiple characters. Hell I even made myself ignore the fact that I was from the Vault in FO3.

Well, Fallout 1 and 2 allowed you to pick from some preset vault dwellers/chosen ones that had some backstory of the sort of person they were, but if you made your own character it was all left up to you. All you knew was that you were a vault dweller/tribal who was descended from "The" vault dweller.

Now, that in a way limits your imagination, so I actually like the Courier because all the backstory they have to give is that you were a courier- the rest you can make up yourself.

My thoughts aswell.

In western RPGs like this, for me, The blanker the slate, the better.

Makes the character feel more like my own and less like I'm sharing half of the ownership of him with the game's main quest that cements him as the 19 year old son of a scientist from Vault 101.

There's a first for everything. Your origin should stay unmentioned in the game for the sake of roleplay. That's what I hope it'll be like.

Maybe the Courier does long distance? Maybe the pick up was in California and the delivery was to Nevada. For all we know the Courier could be from Washington :P .

One thing I'd like to mention is just because the Courier is delivering a package from California doesn't mean that the Courier himself is from California. (Nowhere in the interview did Josh even mention the Courier's origins.) :tops:

EDIT: For all we know Mojave Express may do long distance couriering now that the NCR has made it safer to move through their territories.

Indeed. Those who already had their game spoiled with the known contents of the package would also know that it can only come from there, so that's no big deal. The Courier can still be anyone.

What??? The BOS are hiding from the NCR? What a bunch of sissies. I thought they were lame enough in Fo3 but now this? Are the developers doing this on purpose? The only way this would make sense is if all the BOS left for the west coast & only a few are left.

Yeah They were pansies in the first two games, they worshiped technology and were completely skippable I only found 2 my entire playthrough

Yup, you are right. I still haven't found a BOS besides the one in The Den.
In Fallout 1 they weren't that hidden, but you could still beat the game without knowing they were around.

I don't like the Brotherhood of Steel, I see nothing special on them, besides the Power Armor which is a dream for some. I like the Outcast though.

Or you could make your own through dialogue, for example

Person1: So what's your story

Option 1: California born and plannin on goin back

Option 2: I don't have a home

Option 3: Came from Across the ocean

To clarify, the Courier was definitely traveling from California (you are ambushed off of I-15 on the way to New Vegas), but nothing is said about where the Courier came from prior to starting that trip.

Thank you for clearing this up. Also, another question we're dying to know.

Is that '._.' emoticon drawn on your face or is that an actual birthmark?

I don't interpret their hiding as cowardice, but rather them biding their time. Why should they strike again so soon when the NCR and Caeser's Legion are so eager to slaughter each other?

I would love nothing more than to kill everyone of those self-righteous pricks. Hopefully it's a choice.

I wonder what you have to do to 'find' them. Will it depend on a mission choice or just having to go out and physically locate them?

I agree its actually rather smart of the BoS to bide their time and wait for the Caesar's Legion and NCR to kill/weaken each other. :tops:
