Anyone make a monster 10STR build yet?

I'm talking about the guy on the left, not the one in the suit at the front. ;)

I am too. :shifty:

Do not have anything 10 Again do not have any begining skill 10. That one point can go else where for you, because later in the game, you can increase you stats. There is no bobble heads will do this, but there is something else in the game that will do this. And I am not talking about level up perks either.

So do not put your S to 10.

I was hoping you could dial it up to 11 with said improvement, guess not :whistling:

In that case, I'll do

S P E C I A L

9 2 9 1 1 9 9

Don't tell people not to go to 10. That's not a blanket statement. For one, you cannot boost all your SPECIAL without meeting certain conditions.

Spoiler

Just east and a bit north of the south Freeside entrance is a doctor. She can give implants (4k per SPECIAL, 8k for DT, 12k for HP regen). There are 9 implants. You can only get implants up to your END. Getting the END implant does not open a space for another implant.

I havent yet, but I am for my second character.
I'm going to do a run through in homage to http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/Fallout%202/Update%201/index.html

Maybe you're the person to ask... does New Vegas have a lot of unique dialogue choices for idiot characters? I knew there's a few but it's hardly worth a playthrough if it's just every now and again.

I went with

 S P E C I A L10 2 10 2 2 10 2

Davor is correct that you can eventually boost stats, but I wanted to have 10s right when I started out. I do not regret this decision in the least. You won't get to the implant store for a long time, and every point counts in the early game.

My character ONLY uses hand-to-hand weapons and explosives. That turned out well. When some guy 100' away is picking at me with a rifle, well - sometimes it's fun to charge at him and get shot in the face 5 times before you get there, but it's nice to just throw a stick of dynamite at him instead to soften him up or knock him over BEFORE the charge. (My tags were Melee, Explosives, Survival.)

The most important piece of advice I can give you: GET GOOD MELEE PERKS. Perks make a huge difference in combat. Check out the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas_perks and plan ahead. At low levels, there aren't really any melee perks. Get to level 8 however you can and get Super Slam. Super Slam rules - you hit the enemy and they often go all ragdoll on you. They can't fight back when they're like that. It's just incredible. I also like Stonewall a lot. Piercing Strike at level 12 is another insanely good perk - but again, plan ahead. You have to invest in a 70 Unarmed for Piercing Strike. Worth it in my opinion, even if you're melee only.

Let us know how it goes :)

My character has a 2 IN, and I have noticed one (1) unique dumb dialogue option. It's true that the character doesn't talk much, and I tend to cut conversations short with her, but even so, it's mighty disappointing.

Although the one instance was pretty hilarious:

Spoiler
The doctor at the implant clinic is describing her services and my character goes, "What? You sell plants here?"
The doctor is all, "..."
"IMplants."
Then I ask about having the Intelligence implant installed and the doctor says, "You know what, I think you really need this implant. I'm going to cut the price to 3000 for you ..."

I want to do that but I'm waiting until a patch fixes the bug that prevents some/most the "my character is a dummy dialogue" from showing up.

Why not do both (INT and STR)?

You could do STR 9, PER 3, END 7, CHA 1, INT 9, AGI 6, LUC 5

Then you could play Caravan and earn 4000 caps and sneak over to the autodoc and pump INT to 10 before you level to second level, so you get all the skill points.

You'll be able (with 7 implants) to get the 2 special ones plus 5 stat boosts, one of which was already spent on INT, so you could still boost STR, PER, INT, AGI.

So at that point you'd have:

STR 10, PER 4, END 7, CHA 1, INT 10, AGI 7, LUC 5.

Then during your career you'll buy Intense Training 3 times to get PER up to 6, and LUC up to 6, and thats ONLY if you want to buy the perks that require PER 6 or LUC 6 or AGI 7. If you dont, it makes life even simpler.

Would be a silly build but funny. :)
