So You Have Played the Game a Time or Three

Post » Sat Dec 11, 2010 6:00 am

On my fourth playthrough I found a TON of stuff. The crevass or crescent something on the southwestern part of the map. Devil's Throat, lakelurk home on the eastern side of the river, Caesars safe house, legendary fire gecko, legendary deathclaw, legendary nightstalker (killed them all of course). The Legendary Fire Gecko was funny though. He was right at the entrance and my companions were in front of me. I shot it once, they did most of that killing. I found the aliens, and tumbleweed ranch is it? I finally picked the very hard lock in sunset sarsaparilla, and the Nellis train station. Wow. Tons more, which was incredibly surprising given that my first character did a fair amount of exploration, even if the next two did not.

...I was in my second go-round and stumbled on a water pump station near fiend territory... I repaired the network on the computer which mentioned a radiation issue. As I stepped back I got a notice about the quest Hard Luck Blues (if I remember right), and it said: "find the source of the radiation"...a map marker was added for a vault which turned out to be filled with ghouls and glowing ones, and after mowing through them all I found two areas at the lowest level which were flooded. I dove in and found a maintenence tech in each area with pass cards on them I couldn't use, I assume, 'cause I never figured how to get in the overseers office or the door in one of the flooded areas... Does anyone know how to access them??? Also, I ran up on a place called "Remnants Bunker" not far from the mutant refuge high in the mountains. I couldn't get in there either 'cause the door control prompted it required "some sort of utterance" to unlock... Anyone know what who the "remnant" are and/or how to acess their bunker??? Any advice appreciated!

That's it. "Engage him"? How do I do that?

Have Swank send him to his room, then chose the "you svck now you'll die" dialogues. Then he'll start running around and shoot at you, hopefully opening that door ^^

Legion Safehouse. I think this is my 7th character and I've only just now found that place (and accessed it). Even on my Legion playthrough I didn't discover it.

There are the NV sewers I haven't explored, and there's another location nearby... some office park, I think? I haven't explored that either.

Quite a few areas on the lower west side of NV.
All around the back of McCarran, two or three buildings with bugs in, the ant queens nest, water pump, warehouse..

I'm level 26 on my original starting game. I really don't think that I've made the most of it so far, its all been a mish-mash of trying to do many different things. So far I've tried to do almost every quest, and be liked by everyone (except the Legion) and its just too big. My character is generic and boring, I feel that I'm going through the motions, rather than trying to complete the game with a goal in mind. If that makes sense.

I'm thinking of starting again and focusing my attention on just the Brotherhood of Steel, as they have become my favourite faction by far. Role-play, in fact. After that, in every subsequent playthrough maybe side with a different faction each time.

What say? Shall I start over?

It would be alot of explaining to walk you through all that... I suggest you take a look at the wiki

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas_quests Just look up "Hard Luck Blues" and the quest "For Auld Lang Syne" has to do with the Remnants bunker...

When I found the sewers it was really exciting. I'm on my 4th playthrough and found all sorts of new things and places. Finding the door in Charleston Cave with a thrill, since I'd missed it 3 times (don't get too excited tho). I REALLY loved finding the aliens and their spaceship.

That place, if you have the Animal Friend Perk (or not) is a great place to call home.

In the 5th game we finally ventured into the Ant Mound in the barn. There weren't that many ants in there so I guess they were on the surface. On my saves I've started doing them like snapshots with my companions standing in interesting places. Their heads don't reach the top of her body when standing next to the Ant Queen.

I usually explore each spot on every playthrough. I don't know why, but I like trying to learn the story behind each location. I enjoy doing new quests for different playthroughs. For instance I did the quests for Camp Forlorne Hope on one playthrough, then did we are Legion on another one.

The Thorn is a place I found but did not go into until my second playthrough. I did not go into any of the sewers either. I guess I was having flashbacks of the tunnels in DC and wanted to make sure I could play the game and never have to go into those places.

However the quest you get at the Thorn is a lot of fun.

I was really excited to try to RP a BOS character. But then I realized either you do it the hard way and just sit around the bunker. . . or you basically have to kill everyone because the entire wasteland will apparently attack the Brotherhood on sight. I was really hoping to get some kind of Brotherhood only thing going on. I suppose you could play the hidden agent angle with Veronica.
