Splitscreen Please?

Crytek,
Will you be introducing split screen into the game? I understand that split screen may not be available for Pc gamers but to the console gamers, this will mean a lot.

It's been confirmed they aren't going to make a splitscreen mode.

There was a podcast which announced this feature wasn't included.

Hope this helps I can't find the link so you may have to find it by looking around this site. :)

I don't think it could keep up the framerate with splitscreen, though I remember getting 3-way splitscreen in a game that could only support 2-way through glitches. We had no prbolems at all... Untill specific 1st-person cinimatics caused it to glitch and freeze.

"Freeze thing coming up; quit!"
"Nah, it'll be right, just don't go past the bridge"
*Freeze*

I would guess there is not going to be any splitscreen from what I've heard.

When even a single screen is hardly even possible on consoles.
What would a Splitscreen be?
Yeah.. impossible!
Otherwise they have to to decrease the grfx so much that it would look like Duke Nukem 3d.

The graphics would suffer a lot in split screen, although i suppose they still could do it, but if l4d1/2 is anything to go by the xbox would be going for a naptime and heading off to the red ring (or dot for you new sleeker, more faulty xbox owners :P) of death land.

They could always severly reduce the settings though, i'm sure some people wouldn't mind the graphics going through the floor as long as they can play with a friend.

Also, i'd love the PC version to have splitscreen, it's not like you can't plug in 360 controllers. If dynasty warriors (lol) can do it, so can crysis 2. In terms of raw power the low end enthusiast (i.e. using hd5850 and above) crowd should still manage 30fps at ultra high comfortably according to how much faster crysis 2 will run.

I've always wondered why it isn't used as much on PC, even though as you say its not like there is a lack of control options, I've been running dual Monitors for a while and I've wondered about running two instances of a game(one on each screen) and seeing if you could MP like that Serving off of the LOCALHOST, of course, one of these days I will actually get around to doing it hehe. not that im expecting great results, but I just wonder if it'd be possible

Hi guys,

Sadly we will not be shipping Crysis 2 with any kind of split-screen mode, you will still be able to play LAN and On-line games as normal, either with your friends or new enemies!

Do current consoles do "linked" MP? Where you can link two consoles together on two TV's and play MP that way? It never really took off in the console market due to the requirement of two TV's (two consoles were easy enough to muster) but interesting to hear about support for that nonetheless.

It's highly doubtful that you will be able to play with two consoles on one monitor, I believe there is a quote somewhere saying that this will not be possible.

Nah, the way i remember it being marketed (not by Crytek/Crysis, but in general) was two consoles, two screens. Ah, that's what it's called - "System Link"

Yeah, you could do it using a standard crossover CAT5 cable (which is just a standard cat5 cable with inverted wiring on one end.) This also has existed on PC forever too, but obviously if you have a router and/or switch then there isn't much need, and you could all potentially have internet access, hence it's lack of popularity.
