Crysis 2 graphics in consoles

But nothing compares to a Gtx 8800!
Even today you can play most games in a very high setting even with AA at acceptable framerates.
For over 3 years now this card could hold up to the top 15 high end grfx cards!

Not really, a hd5870 is about 3-4 times faster for example, the hardware side of pc gaming has advanced nicely, and the 8-9 series cards are now regarded as low end in the scheme of things by this point!

Still, this isn't the problem if they run the games to your standard, it's cool that cards last so long. It's only annoying when people bich about replacing them. If you want to max a newer, demanding game at 1920x1080 you sometimes need to spend money.
Naturally, you would have to spend a whole lot of cash for a new card. And a Gtx 8800 (GT/GTS too) can still hold up to now. They're the pioneers of Dx10 gaming, you can't just ignore that fact. :)

For an old pre-alpha shot. Was this taken in a low-Gaming type Pc by any chance?
There is No way a shot from an Xbox360 or Ps3 would look this low.

lol yes it is, probably the shaders were still in development thats why it looks so bad
in all depends on the stage of the product

I'll just leave this console screenshot here...

That shot is over 6 months old.

Although I am a PC gamer and I know you're just trying to put down the consoles, but you need to know the source of your reference before you can actually use it.
My apologies I must be lurking 4chan too much these days...

Dealing with the pc community is harder because they actually have a voice. When console gamers complain their views are all but silenced by having no real way to communicate back for most of them. Some things get through, but comparatively the PC crowd has a megaphone down the developers ear.

Overall, if we want amazing games, we've got to realize that we probably won't run it maxed out on our hardware, just like in the old days. But it seems everyone is starting to become a self entitled ass hat who wants their gtx260 to max every game for 5 years.
This part is just too negative to imagine. and Yes, a GTX 260 won't last in this kind of environment and age any longer. That's why we have the new GTX 5xx series on its way.
a gtx 260 runs Crysis in high settings. so trusting Crytek on their claim that the same settings will run BETTER on whatever hardware, in crysis 2 than in crysis 1, a gtx 260 will run crysis 2 high settings too. i generally don't trust this kind of PR without factual proof but i still expect a gtx 260 to run crysis 2 looking considerably better than high settings crysis 1 no matter what actual ingame setting you end up using. and you should be able to play most other games looking phenomenally for the next 2 years atleast.

Oh definitely not :D the 8800GTX's have proven one of the best buys ever for initial purchasers :D

You say that the 8800GTX holds up to modern games, which is definitely true to a degree. Since yes, the 8800GTX can play most games well, it won't be maxing out all games at ridiculous resolutions, but it's still a good piece of kit as long as you aren't trying to push ridiculous resolutions.

I guess i hid my point within my babble, but it was that we as a community shouldn't complain about high hardware requirements, especially if the end result that we see, which our hardware CAN handle, still blows everything else away! Just like the original crysis :D

No, the console versions of Crysis 2 will not be able to graphically match Crysis 1 on PC on max settings.

It seems to my me that one sees better on consoles than the Crysis 1

Think that the quality of the videoes diminishes in youtube and
that in a television of high definition one will see better.

Even this way I want to see the official videos of PC, our eyes will be burned xD

So for short, let's stop arguing about our knowledge in Pc hardware and get back to Crysis 2 :)

probably worth noting that footage is also around 9-10 months old (I'm not sure the exact timing of it)

I think that one will see very well in consoles. Crytek has mentioned that it will be the game with better graphs in the consoles. If we bear in mind that the consoles take games as these:

- Bioshock
- Assassins Creed
- Gears of War

We can imagine the result.

they would be lowering their standards if they did otherwise
i bet till the release of C2 you will see a few more companies saying they have the best graphics in consoles xD

This was discussed earlier, and yes it will be a dread for us Pc users/gamers. If it was only true, for now it's all 50/50.
