First @YonBaron. If you don't think this plotline had any tie in to the original, you weren't paying attention. By the end it was clear that Prophet wasn't a cameo, he WAS the suit. The suit, prophet and Alcatraz are one entity in the end. There was a lot of tie in in the backstory of Hargreave. He contracted Prophet to lead Raptor team into Korea knowing full well there were aliens there and Prophet had a separate mission to investigate and get samples which explains a lot of his AWOL time in Crysis 1. Though it is now 3 years later and it wasn't explained how Nomad and Psycho got him out and where they went afterward.
To everyone else espousing the opinion that this game is equivalent to Half-Life 2 for its time: I love this game, but lets be realistic here. HL2 had one of the smoothest releases and best intro sequences of all time. The first 2 hours of Crysis 2 are clogged with bugs and bad AI. I've had some of my weapons and abilities disabled by bugs and watched troops run right past my unstealthed a$$ into a wall for two minutes before I took sympathy and shot them.
I love this game, I really do, but it released too soon and needed more playtesting. It really COULD have been the next HL2, but it just isn't.
