Hookshot

Maybe chain-hook is a better term? Something that can be used to trip enemies? example from Vindictus/Mabinogi heroes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cTdMS_V-fg

It's a cool idea, but I'd say they won't put it in because of technical issues. That's not something easy to include in an open world game, imagine all the things the player could do that they'd have to anticipate for.

Chain-hook is a better term. Even if Beth doesn't include it in the vanilla game, as long as they put crossbows in, it'll be an easy gadget to create with mods. Basically a rope arrow that you can shoot out of your gauntlet and either climb or swing from.

But if they do include something similar in the vanilla game, I think that would be a badass reward for finishing a Thief/Dark Brotherhood guild.

If Morrowind can do it then I'm sure Skyrim will be able to:

Its a little slow atm but that's because that video was taken on an older Macbook. My new comp does much better.

How about just a special ammo for a crossbow or bow that shoots a bolt or arrow with rope attach that you can climb? But hell, we don't even know if we can climb ladders yet.

I already clarified that "Hookshot" was the wrong word to use. It was the only thing that came to mind in terms of a comparison. Think of it as a crossbow that shoots rope arrows -- miniaturized to fit on a special gauntlet.

Not a huge heavy chain obviously, just something thin that can hold your weight and coil up inside the mechanism.

A rope then. Ropes can be thin and light but quite strong.

Edit: And what the hell do people mean by "unrealistic" Tying a rope to an arrow to get over a tall wall is a proven concept. The only hard part is getting the arrow to stick to something but TES has magic so why not?

Yeah true. Basically a mini rope arrow crossbow on your wrist/gauntlet is what I've been trying to say.
