Skyrim Multiplayer Idea

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 7:48 am

Was just brainstorming and i think this is a pretty good idea. Thought id get some input.

Skyrim multiplayer:

So basicly there are classes that you make. Within class creation, you can select 7 main skills that start at a higher level, 1 stone (thief, mage, ext) and 10 items (armor, wepons, spellbook, ext) though the starter items will be pretty basic. You can also use an item slot for a basic enchantment. You also get 5 free starter lvls, wich u can use on trees and magic/health/stamina ups. This will be what you spawn with.

Within the playfield their is alch ingrediants, fishies, ore deposits, and monsters/bandits/ext. There are 2 teams that start on either side. They each have a base with a store that ranges from basic to advanced items. Each item is priced acordingly. There are also alch, cook, and enchant stations in there, along with a team chest were team mates can deposit items for points, or withdraw for use.

During play, you kill the monsters and enemy payers for points and gold. You can also loot bodies for there items. Once you earn enough gold, you can go back to base and buy better equip from the store. When you die you lose all your gained items and half your gold. You respawn with your clases basic equipment. While waiting to respawn, you can swith to a diferent class. Once a team reaches a score limit they win!

Edit: you dont lose skill lvl ups or skill tree improvements on death, but they do reset after game.

Feedback and ideas plz :)

Fact is though, if they create a MP mode they would have to rewrite tons of code and re-balance many things. I mean, how would cells work in game? if a player goes into a Dungeon then the game loads this cell and unloads the world so to speak... meaning the two players would have to stick side by side constantly. I just cannot see it ever working.

To spend time working/adding an MP mode would take time and resources away from adding more content to the single player.

You really can't see it ever working? Co-op in its definition is to play along side, together. If someone enters a dungeon or city, a simple message would appear to the other player asking if they accept entering the "Location X". If they accept, both players will enter new location, if they refuse then they will stay where they are until the other player is ready. It's really not that confusing or difficult to understand. Other games have figured it out, BGS can too.

Take the game, as is, and just add co-op with one friend. No balancing. No SRS BSNS. Just toss it in as an after-thought. There was a time when games would be released with crummy multiplayer, and nobody cared, because they were great single player games. Do that. Ignore the "skip single player, go straight to multiplayer" crowd. There would be better games for them to boost their e-peen, so they should just go play those. I just want to goof around, killing enemies, maybe fighting with a friend. Entirely for fun. That's all I want.

Considering the imbalances, going from single player to PvP multiplayer would be one of the worst decisions Bethesda could make with TES. If people think there's too much complaining on the forums now......

Nobody said it was not possible, it would require major changes though and this WOULD take time and resources that would otherwise be spent on single player content. Go play two worlds 2 if you fancy a bit of co-op.

If I was interested in co-op only then I'd be playing those games instead of pushing for TES to include co-op. If Two Worlds 2 was a great game like TES then I would be playing it. But it simply isn't that great of a game.

Obviously adding anything new will take resources and time, but you could make that argument about anything new. "Dragons shouldn't have been added, it took resources away from radient AI", etc. A solid co-op mode would make TES so much more fun and add a completely new element to the game.

No beth should make the MMO if they are going to have one otherwise someone would screw something up and how does adding a extra person to do the exact same thing you are doing now by yourself take away? All that would need to be done is say make the easy difficulty medium when playing co-op and so forth and then master could have something higher that just can't be done in single player.

it would take away development time from other (important) aspects of the game, it is not just adding a single extra person (which would be boring) it would be codeing in actions that the second could do and could not do (cant have your "friend" go around killing quest givers could you?), and things that would give a reason to have another person (makeing a dungeon imossible to do alone, which wuld ruin single player). and beth needs to focus on TES and fallout games, no an mmo

Maybe a "free-roam" type style MP like in RDR

Just have the other player function like a follower (just without being AI controlled). And add a way to kick your "friend" out of the game. Besides. There are already unkillable NPCs. :s

Atleast a multiplayer DLC maybe? So those who dont want to risk ruining the game (which it wont) dont have to get it.

I think that would a be a great step into adding MP. It would be incredible to go dungeon crawling with friends and run into other explorers. Or possibly taking over a dungeon and trying to defend it from other players. This would have both private and public servers, so if you didn't want to play with randoms then you and your friends could have your own game going. And if it gets a good response, then they can take it a step further and try to implement co-op into the main story mode with quests and such.

rofl, poor OP, people went wild because that 1 word "multiplayer"

well, I don't think your idea will be fun because you are mixing PvE and PvP. And current UI, combat flow simply does not work well for PvP.

Sorry but any TES game made have never had multiplayer in mind, at any level, at any point in development...it just wont work

Shows how much you know about TES, because there was a multiplayer game called Battlespire.

As for the original posters comment, I would love to see a multiplayer adaptation made of Skyrim. One where there was a client/server model and that you could designate another computer as the server and you and your friends log on as clients.

That's one of the things people are afraid of (ruining the game). I get what you're saying, but that would require designing around the idea, which would result in compromises being made to the single player game. It should not go beyond just letting you and a friend play together.

I'm thinking of co-op as a mode similar to Borderlands or Saint's Row 2. Where you can invite a friend to enter your world to explore, do quests, etc. I'd love an open world MP like GTA 4 or RDR, but in the end I think it would be great if they worked towards a SR 2 or Borderlands style co-op.

Shows how popular that idea was, as i have been around since Morrowind and nobody brings up Battlespire when trying to make an arguement for mp. If that thing tanked bad then theres the reason, its a huge money pit.

Beth is one of the last bastions of good single-player RPGs. Keep it that way. Plenty of other companies making MMO's

I don't understand this need for them to stay SP, as if it's more pure and adding co-op would be morally bad. If they can make a great game that includes both co-op and SP how would it be negative for the franchise?
