Skyrim Multiplayer Idea

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 2:42 am

Was just brainstorming and i think this is a pretty good idea. Thought id get some input.

Skyrim multiplayer:

So basicly there are classes that you make. Within class creation, you can select 7 main skills that start at a higher level, 1 stone (thief, mage, ext) and 10 items (armor, wepons, spellbook, ext) though the starter items will be pretty basic. You can also use an item slot for a basic enchantment. You also get 5 free starter lvls, wich u can use on trees and magic/health/stamina ups. This will be what you spawn with.

Within the playfield their is alch ingrediants, fishies, ore deposits, and monsters/bandits/ext. There are 2 teams that start on either side. They each have a base with a store that ranges from basic to advanced items. Each item is priced acordingly. There are also alch, cook, and enchant stations in there, along with a team chest were team mates can deposit items for points, or withdraw for use.

During play, you kill the monsters and enemy payers for points and gold. You can also loot bodies for there items. Once you earn enough gold, you can go back to base and buy better equip from the store. When you die you lose all your gained items and half your gold. You respawn with your clases basic equipment. While waiting to respawn, you can swith to a diferent class. Once a team reaches a score limit they win!

Edit: you dont lose skill lvl ups or skill tree improvements on death, but they do reset after game.

Feedback and ideas plz :)

We have a million MP threads for all Elder Scrolls games and the answer is always the same, NO.

However, with Skyrim looking like it will sell more than every other Elder Scrolls combined the new masses of players who will become the majority might want a multiplayer.

I however, will always hope they put every single bit of effort and resource into making a fantastic open world SINGLE PLAYER RPG.

Yea this is the only thing I would accept in the game, it could be done like borderlands.

I never said screw up the singleplayer. Im just suggestin that once they get the singleplayer perfect, a multiplayer migt atract more players and earn more profits. When that time comes, i thought id put out my 2 cents.

Also i agree with co-op, but that really isnt multiplayer, its the game except with another person.

I read in GameInformer that the idea of multiplayer always comes up and is kicked around when they make a new Elder Scrolls game and it's never added because the majority of the designers feel it would take away more than it would add.

I would like to sit in on one of these meetings to see what kind of ideas they kick around, personally. I'm sure I could offer some good input, though, as a gamer who plays a LOT of multiplayer games, the only way a good RPG can still be an RPG and multiplayer is generally by making an MMO, and I prefer single player RPGs myself. Well, other than D&D of course. It's impossible to play D&D (the real D&D, not some CRPG version of it) single player. :P

It does make me wonder how they expect to make an MMO, though. Or maybe they simply copyrighted "Elder Scrolls Online" just so no one else would and don't plan to do anything with it.

Edit: For clarification, when I say a REAL RPG with multiplayer, I don't mean a Diablo like game. Diablo is great, yeah, but I don't really count it as an RPG. It's a hack-n-slash. It's almost entirely about the game play; not the story. It also has no real sense of progression (to me) other than getting more powerful gear. It's like playing a Monty Haul D&D campaign that focuses solely on combat.

"you are stupid, so i'll make myself clear...you are stupid! go away!"

multiplayer would svck and take away for the singleplayer game. but if bethesda would hire someone else (key words someone else) to make a mmo based off of the entire TES universe (all deadri realms, akavir, and all of tamriel, mabe he divine realm [if they could justify it], and the oceans of TES, and maybe the other continents north and south of tamriel) then i would love it but bethshould not waste their time on MP

Fact is though, if they create a MP mode they would have to rewrite tons of code and re-balance many things. I mean, how would cells work in game? if a player goes into a Dungeon then the game loads this cell and unloads the world so to speak... meaning the two players would have to stick side by side constantly. I just cannot see it ever working.

To spend time working/adding an MP mode would take time and resources away from adding more content to the single player.

An optional co-op similar to Borderlands or Saint's Row 2 would be perfect. Games have added great co-op features in the past, so don't play stupid and act like it's not possible. Co-op would add a lot to the game and I know plenty of people who have said they'd buy the game if it had co-op.

No beth should make the MMO if they are going to have one otherwise someone would screw something up and how does adding a extra person to do the exact same thing you are doing now by yourself take away? All that would need to be done is say make the easy difficulty medium when playing co-op and so forth and then master could have something higher that just can't be done in single player.

Nobody said it was not possible, it would require major changes though and this WOULD take time and resources that would otherwise be spent on single player content. Go play two worlds 2 if you fancy a bit of co-op.

Like other posters have stated, I would only MAYBE be in favor of a co-op mode. Nothing competitive.
