50 levels 81 perks

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 4:30 pm

So the level cap is 50, and you get 1 perk per level.

According to some you can unlock 81 perks.

Is that true? How?

Are you sure? I'm pretty positive it's 80 if you max all your skills.

There is no level "cap". I'm level 70 right now. I'm assuming it maxes out around 80 as most people have said before.

If you get all skills to 100 you max level is 81 hence the 80 perks and the possible 80 magicka-health-stamina upgrades.
Soft cap is 50 and hard cap is 81. With hard cap meaning that you gain slower the lvls after 50 and don't level up after 10 skill increases.

The level cap, its not so much a cap, its more of a I have all my skills at level 100.

You can get to level 81 (i know because I am), and you get a perk for every level, being 80, because level 1 doesnt get a perk.

There is no "soft cap." How much a skill contributes to your current level progress depends on how high it is in relation to your level. For example, leveling up a skill in the 90s when you're level 20 will increase your level progress quite a bit, while leveling the same skill in the 90s when you're level 50 will still move it a decent amount, just not nearly as much as it did when you were level 20. Same thing in reverse.. when you're level 30, increasing a skill from 15 to 16, for example, will barely move the progress bar for your current level. So no, there's no "soft cap" and how fast you level up depends on the level of the skills you're training.

Agreed, wasn't sure about how that actually worked since i'm only 42 at the moment. But the fact is that max lvl is 81 with an 80 perks pool and you level slower above 50 :)

It is a quarter of all I think but I find that a good thing as it adds to replayabilty. Before I got my hands on the game, this was my main concern but now having played it, I would not change it. :turned:

Because someone didn't know better.

It's only slow if you have a lot of low level skills, and even then, it's not terribly slow if you power level them.

For example, I went from level 53 to 70 today by maxing out Conjuration, Destruction, Alteration, Illusion, Light Armor, and getting a handful of other assorted level ups.

I noticed my leveling through normal gameplay start to slow down in the mid 30s.

That was how it was going to be during one stage of development but they changed it to allow for more afterwards. I was confused also.

So the cap is not based on your level, it's based on the contribution of a given skill depending on how high it is.No matter your level ,be it pre or post 50.Interesting.

Hmm, the best thing they could of done is removed the major and minor skills. So I am not complaining : )

Cap is based on how high each skill is. When they are all at lvl 100, levelling and perks stop... or so if my understanding of it anyway.

Kinda-sorta.

Think of it like this, although don't take this as a direct anology. Say you need 20 "points" to level up at level 20. Leveling up a skill from 15 to 16 gives me one "point." Now, leveling up a skill from 90 to 91 gives me 10 points, so you see the progress bar fly toward the next level.
Now I'm level 50. When I increase another skill from 15 to 16, it still gives me that one point. And when I increase a skill from 90 to 91, it still gives me 10 points. But now, since I'm level 50, I need 50 points to level up.

The representation we're given in-game is all relative to what level our skills are in relation to what level we are. As far as how the game handles the leveling internally, I assume that it's something similar to how I've presented it, just more mathematical and whatnot.

I didn't formulate myself too well here. I knew there wasn't al evel cap at 50, but I did read something along the lines of players stopping to earn perks after level 50.
Apparently that's bs anyway.

Thanks to Trunksbomb and the others for the enlightenment.

PS: There are some 250 perks in total. 80 perks make approximately one third.
