A Shaolin monk?

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 6:39 pm

Just come to think it.
I love creating new characters and this time i'm trying to build a shaolin monk.

He would fight only with his fists.

There's no 'unarmed' but i guess one handed skill works.

Someone can confirm?

And ideas, any suggestions?

This seems to be the most popular option:

It involves a Khajiit, heavy armor gauntlets, Fist of Steel perk and the Pugilist Gloves.

A monk does not wear armor.

But it's kinda necessary to make late-game unarmed combat feasible.

the only damage bonus you can get for hand to hand is a heavy armor perk and you have to be wearing heavy armor gauntlets.

Back to my nord warriah.

Well you can't do Kung Fu you're just kind of a big drunk who hammers people with his fists... more of a Scottish monk than a Shaolin monk.

You can be a Khajiit martial artists. That's lore friendly and was definitely viable in previous games. Using a melee staff in Morrowind for back up brings back memories. In Skyrim they kind of botched unarmed combat. Hell, NV had sweep kicks. It should have been its own skill.

Although Ive heard contradicting reports that H2H can be affected by the first perk of One handed, upping its damage. I'm not sure if its true or not. You can always use the console commands if your on PC to scale your unarmed damage while you progress your other skills naturally. The absence of acrobatics for a Khajiit monk, or martial artist is saddening as well. Although there's also a console command to raise overall jump height.

Dwarven Gauntlets and Boots, along with Hooded Monk Robes.

Probably one of the coolest combinations, and fits a fist-fighter well.

from what i've learned about actual monks windshear should be a good option or any of the blade's sword if you are going all sohei, which is advisable considering you are already wearing heavy armor.

I like the idea of a monk but fighting a dragon with your hands..I don't know..I don't like getting that close even with a onehanded weapon.
