WTF font?

Dude its not Bethesda's fault. All developers build their games for HDTV's now a days. Your going to encounter the same problem with all games you buy. My advise if you don't have an HDTV is to pick up a different hoby besides games.

I had the same problem when I brought MGS4, I had an old 4:3 box TV, couldn't see a thing. So went put and got 50", now not every one can do that but you can get cheap HD TV on finance, surely for only a few ££ a month.

[censored] that mann, just save money then buy it.... thats why this economy is [censored] up, because people finance things they can't realy afford.... but hey ur choice :D

is the font issue going to get fixed?

I'm playing on an old tv as well, I get by but miss a lot of reading because it's not sharp enough being so small. Font sizing would sure be a help.

I'm glad somebody is sharing my sentiment. I don't feel as crazy now!

God, you "durr get an HDTV" people never quit do you. If you have nothing better to respond with than telling people to go buy an HDTV, or making some sarcastic [censored] statement to mock them. Why in the hell are you even replying to their threads? I'm not even going to get into the same pointless argument from the many other threads regarding this. I'll just repeat the one statement that is 100% fact yet everyone just ignores or sidesteps.

The Xbox 360 has a standard definition display setting. MOST games I have seen for the xbox 360 have text you can read on an SDTV, and yes all of them say "HDTV: 720p/1080i/1080p" on the back on the case. However since the system has an SD display setting, and a standard has been set with most games having text you can read on an SDTV. It is a perfectly legitimate issue, and people have every right to be disappointed or upset by it. Maybe you don't agree with them, whatever. Gives you no right to mock them or talk down to them about how they need to get with the times.

Not going to bother looking at this thread again, so don't bother replying to this post.

720 is not standard definition. 720 is HD. 480i is standard definition.

Xbox 360 is NOT optimized for standard definition.

Oh yes, I've been using Xbox360 on SDTV for years and was able to play Fallout New Vegas on it. I'd call Fallout New Vegas a relatively new game as it came out in 2010, and all of a sudden my lack of HDTV is an issue?

Your TV BLOWS.

I have 2 CRT's that I can read any game font just fine. One is an HD CRT at 720P and the other isn't even HD. Don't blame a game for your problem. People like you hold back industries from evolving.

I mean I'm all for being a smart consumer and not buying crap the second it comes out just for the sake of it, but dear god, HD TV's are so cheap now, and so much better than CRT's (except for one aspect) that you are just a stubborn fool.

People like you are the reason floppy drives still exist. For shame!

Yes, just as your lack of reading comprehension seems to be one as well.

Your tv does not support the format. Just because by some miracle other games DO seem to work on it does not mean ALL games will.

I just bought this game for the Xbox360, I can't get it used anywhere, so I dished out $60 for it, and I simply cannot play it. The font is ridiculous! I can't read a thing, and I have hearing problems so it's not like I'm going to crank my volume up. I have a regular old TV and I don't plan to ever play this on an HD TV. Do I need to ask for a refund for a game I've been waiting for months to play or is the font issue going to get fixed?

I think while you are at it you need to trade back your X-Box 360 also. Maybe find an old PS1 or something. I can't believe all your other X-Box 360 games don't have the exact same problem.

Troll harder.

I fear that the devs are not putting much thought or concern in non-HD displays.

That being said, I would advise at least send bethesda an email via tech support so that the problem actually becomes known. Helping those with hearing/sight and other difficulties is always a big boon and makes them look good.

Hope you can work something out!

No Devs of any company are, cause most people use HD TV's it is the only type of TV you can buy new now. I thought the game only displayed in 720p no matter what tv you have it on.

Actually there are only a few like this, When I was using a SD TV only Mass Effect 2 had this problem, all other games where fine.

It might have been a good idea to include a font size option, and surely it wouldn't have been that difficult.

That said, I'm kind of shocked that some of you get so offended at a legitimate complaint from someone with a disability.

My wife can't hear out of one ear, so she plays with the subtitles on. Even on our 42" HDTV she has to squint sometimes to read the text. If we had a smaller TV she would either have to turn the volume way up or just miss parts of the story.

Some of you people should be thrown into Oblivion for your ridiculous and thoughtless comments.

Geez, I'd buy a new HD TV for you, but a gift like that would be odd from a stranger, so scratch that. Anyway, I feel your pain, 'cause I was a recent convert, but I wasn't going to win this battle, so I had to pony up the dough for a HD TV.

Buy a HD TV! Or find a friend that will buy you one for Christmas!

Games developers stopped supporting SD TVs about four years back. Sorry, but that's just how it is. I'd recommend, as a cheaper alternative to HD, in buying an xbox VGA cable and plugging your xbox into a monitor and some speakers. That's what I did before I had an HDTV. But at the end of the day you're long overdue upgrading.

The 360 wasn't designed for SD. None of this generation's consoles were. Same as the PS2 and Xbox weren't designed to be used with TVs that couldn't do SCART. Technology does move on each generation.

all you dip[censored]s that keep reaming the OP need to get with the program here. not everyone can afford to go out and buy some new $250+ (and thats the crappy walmart special brand) televition. hell my previous televition was over 20 years old and worked just fine for just about everything. (some games had the sides cut off and text unreadable but that was only in the last year or so. i'm on fixed income and make only $123 a month on my disabled veterans pay, no jobs in my area since the last two factories shut down in the last year or so.

that stupid crap about "just get an such and such overpriced junk heap tv" just re-enforces my theory that rich people should all be shot and their assets donated to those who could realy use it. took me months to save up a simple $60 for the game. why go out and buy a new tv when the old one workd fine. of course i'v been driving the same car since i was 16 (i'm now nearly 27) its industry overpricing their merchandice and outsourcing all manufaturing to China that's killing the ecconomy.

it makes me wonder how many here have ever hadto work for a living they way they spout off.

for those that had something helpfull to add i comend you for not sinking into the cesspool of stupidity that seems to infect the internet. and OP i realy do feel for you but sadly bethesda doesn't give two [censored] what the comunity thinks, (well eccept the bootlickers that think everything Bethesda craps out is gold)

(did get given a new tv reacently by a freind when his wife got him a new big screen, donated my old consol tv to the lounge here at the veterans housing complex)

Just an update. I did try it on a friend's HDTV. It's still super tiny and barely readable. More readable than on the SDTV, but it's still ridiculous.

Mass Effect 2 is an infamous game of this.

Finally got enough to buy an HDTV, played the game, text was STILL tiny, but at least it was readable (didn't need to use my glasses AND squint at the same time).

Is it too much to ask for text that is larger than 3 pt font?

Well turn on subtitles for the hearing probs so you can see what someone says to you and not have to listen your hardest. Idk if you can change the font.

Cheers

The ability to change the font size would be a really good feature. I have an HD TV 42" Plasma. Upgraded it from my 32" LCD as I was having trouble reading all the on screen text. This was fine for a couple of years but it is all starting to get harder to read again.

I dont want to have to buy yet another larger TV.
